Taking My DAD to His HOMETOWN After 55 Years ⏱️ 🌊 | Visiting Necochea, Argentina

We took my dad, Daniel, back to his hometown of Necochea, Argentina after 55 years! This was a trip that we had talked about doing for years and we finally made it happen. In this video, we'll visit the Argentine coastal city where he grew up before emigrating to the United States and later Canada. We'll visit his old family home, the beaches where he swam as a child, and the pier where he spent his days fishing. This video is a collection of moments and memories - we honestly filmed it more for ourselves than anything else - but we hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane as we share little glimpses of our family history.

Your dad is such an interesting guy. Love listening to him talk about growing up on his home country. Definitely a person who endured the bad and seems to have come out of it with the good. What a zest for life. I'm sure you recognize what a gift he must be to have him as a dad and father in-law. Keep these videos coming. Fascinating.

It's so good to see your father being willing to share his incredible stories. The only time we would find out anything about my parents' growing-up years was when they were with siblings, and even then, we did not learn a lot. Now that my parents are gone, I feel that there is so much that my siblings and I don't know about our parents.

I hope it was overall a good experience for Daniel to return after all these years, so wonderful that you could share these memories. My parents immigrated to NYC from Germany before I was born and didn’t speak the language either so it was hard. If it’s not too difficult for Daniel to recount the story, I would love to hear his experiences.

Was great to hear from Daniel being back in his hometown. It must have been so nostalgic for your Dad. I can empathize with Daniel as I find as I get older I’m thinking about all of the people that have come and gone through my life and all the memories seem like yesterday in my mind when in actual fact 50 years have gone by. I would love to hear why the family left and had to emigrate.

Took my dad once back to Croatia where we came from. He left Croatia in the Fall of 1969 for Canada. Mom and I joined him four months later. Fast forward many years, Mom dies. I figure better take Dad to his home town in Croatia figuring he would be happy to see the place. He was, in a way, but in another he was very quiet, and sad. I couldn't figure out why until years later after he passed away. The thing is, place has changed since he lived there. His parents, my grandparents, had passed away many years before, the house he was born in, and grew up in had been abandoned for decades. His childhood friends had all vanished, either died or simply left the town never to be seen again. To him, the place was not the same. He looked sad. I don't regret going there with him, but wish we had happier times.
