Taking my cat to the BEST Christmas lights in Colorado | Whisker Wonderland!
Merry Christmas! To celebrate Katniss and I show you three of the best Christmas light houses in Colorado! Get ready to be ameowzed!
The Stricker's Winter Wonderland - Winner of the Denver Post's Best Holiday Light Display in 2015, this house features thousands of multicolored lights, dozens of famous characters & lots of cool themes! 100% of donations it receives are given to a local school! People were thrilled to see a cat at this house - Katniss was practically an attraction herself! And shout out to the neighbor across the street who has an "Adopt a Shelter Pet" display
The Pirate Ship House - in the summer of 2020 a neighbor remarked that Sean Meighan's retaining wall looked like the hull of a ship and the rest is history! The former software engineer spent about a year building the pirate ship from scratch, using a lot of Home Depot supplies, and synchronizing it to a light and music show. You can steer the wheel, shoot the cannons, take photos in the light globe or visit Jack and Rose (of Titanic fame!) on the bow of the ship! Sean was really cool about my bringing a cat to his display and even offered to take several photo and video clips for Katniss and I!
The Hazard's Gingerbread House - this house recently appeared on the Great Christmas Light Fight and is the 2023 People's Champ! It contains 20,000+ lights and set up begins on Nov. 1. If you are ever in Highlands Ranch, Colorado during the holiday season visiting it is a must! Katniss was not the only cat to visit this display. A few of her kitty friends have been here too!

Goodness, those are amazing!!! I could never take Luci or Leo out that that,, they would be way to scared, and I would be terrified they would bolt. Katniss was so good, and really seemed to enjoy them. Hope you had a Merry Christmas!

Awww thank you! We hope you had the Merriest Christmas too! Katniss did well, although I admit I was a bit nervous before bringing her because I wasn’t sure how she would react. Those houses blow our minds! The people who run them are so nice and love giving joy to the community!

I can totally understand that! I wasn’t sure how Katniss would react. She is pretty clingy and typically doesn’t try to run but I’d only brought her to inside places before so this was a new adventure. I was pleasantly surprised! I hope you, Sunny, Sasha, Saffire & Stormy in Kitty Heaven had a very Merry Christmas! Looking forward to seeing more videos!

Curious: Is Katniss leash trained? We aren't having such good luck with it partly because we're having trouble finding a harness large enough! Enjoyed this video and going to share!

Awww thank you! Katniss is not leash trained. She hates the harness but even when I have managed to get it on her she basically shrinks into the floor and refuses to move. I typically bring her out in a kitty stroller, and then take her out of that if the situation feels right. She has always gotten timid when out in public and I can feel when I am carrying her that she isn’t attempting to make an effort to jump. If I sensed otherwise I definitely would be more cautious about where I removed her from the stroller
