    1 time a long time ago.... I was traveling across country in my Ford truck, sleepy tired, I filled my truck with diesel instead of gas. Made it about 10 miles down the road before it quit. Had to drain the whole tank on the side of the road and refill it with gas. Luckily things were easier back then and a Sheriff let me do it and stayed there so nobody would give me shit about it. P.S- You need to invite some people over for a Bar-B-Que and have them help you get your 2 solar panels on the roof. Take care, James

    Jenna, the green garden hose you show to refill your water tank should be removed and replaced with a hose suitable for potable water. The one you have has Lead, BPA, and phthalates … they are used in garden hoses mainly to stabilize the plastics. The most common plastic is polyvinyl chloride, which may release toxic vinyl chloride. Antimony and bromine are components of flame retardant chemicals. Just want you to be safe my friend ❤ Great work with your solar!!

    That might not make a difference then if just using it for showering. I’d been looking at your setup with the fridge and the modified sine inverter. You might want to consider just pure sine wave with the fridge. Modified sine wave could damage the motor in the fridge. In some cases, running an AC motor on a modified sine wave may lead to a buildup of excess waste heat that could damage the equipment.… just a thought to consider.

    Howdy Jenna, That was nice of your dad bringing you some more firewood. Ramsey was really going at that kitten food with his 4 chompers, surprised Rory didn't try to sample some of it. So nice seeing the sun shine and you pulling in all of that free energy. I hope you cover your whole roof with solar panels in the future, if your roof can hold the additional weight. I remember when those 3 wheelers came out in the early to mid 80's. After many tipping accidents and injuries, they were banned in the states, replaced by more stable 4 wheelers. Yes, gasoline can give you a pretty bad headache. I remember the days of leaded gas, no pollution controls and vinyl seats in cars. That's a smell you never forget, it was the good old days and we liked it! By Cracky!!! Take care and don't sniff the fumes....Steve.

    1988 ended new sales of 3 wheeled ATV's in U.S. and Canada. People put one leg down to stop a rollover and ran over it. They either broke a leg or got killed altogether. They were very durable and made with robust engineering and you can buy them used cheap, but be careful with them. You probably can't remember how tippy riding a tricycle was a kid, but I will tell you that if you were to find an adult tricycle and ride it they tumble easily. They need a lot of "rake" to keep from tipping over, like the old noisy plastic "Big Wheel" had. Those you could drift with. If you are riding one and it feels like it's going over; bail out and let it crash. Just don't let it run you over. Also Too: You do realize your "power station" includes an inverter, right? It's a battery and inverter in one. But it is a more expensive full sine wave inverter. A stand alone inverter, be it course square or modified sine wave is a great little machine to have around if you have aux batteries that can supply it. They windup taking a little more power to do the same job, but they are less expensive and do work very well for many many things. Just keep sensitive electronics off the NON-full sine wave inverters. Lastly Three: I used to feed my cats canned tuna as a supplement to their dry instead of expensive canned cat food when I found it on sale. When the sell-by date is reached a lot of places will sell it at cost because they don't want to sell it to the public at large, and they'll have to send it back to the company for credit or do something else to get rid of it. (makes me wonder what the company does with it) In my state there is a store called Sav A Lot and they sell canned goods that have exceeded the sell by date all the time. According to Chris Kimball of Americas Test Kitchen TV fame, a canned item never goes bad from a danger stand point unless the seal is broken. It just looses quality. i.e. If you buy a can of beans, as long as it doesn't lose it's seal, it's good for 100yrs. But you may open it and find a muddy substance instead of nice firm beans. If you let your local store know about Ramsey's needs you might be surprised to find they want to help. And you know you could feed Ramsey the good dry stuff, just wet it down for him by soaking it in with the Tuna, juice and all. My cats loved can tuna, they never knew it was beyond the sell-by date because I never told them. Ha Ha, Nice vid Gypsy, and nice to see you! Keep learnin that solar, storage and inverter technology and we'll watch for you again. ben/ michigan

    @@gypsyjenna i remember when diesel was cheaper. fast story: back when diesel was cheaper a friend of mine bought a diesel V.W. bug. she got it because it was cheaper to run and to save money on fuel. a week later the price of diesel went far above (by 50C ) at that time and hasn't droped down below gas. so i blame her for the prices changeing and costing more one to the other and it is because of her and i'm sticking to that opinion. It's tornado 🌪️ weather here. So I have 600 watts of my panels in the barn for the past week. The others are right against the barn on the East side, where they've only been getting sun 🌞 for about four hours in the morning. After a week or so of it, the lithium batteries are showing 24.3 v. The fourteen lead batteries on the wind generator, 12.3 v. It has been cloudy for a week. So, if I use any power, I'll have to use the gas ⛽ generator to charge. It's raining here. I keep short pieces of 2x4 in my truck camper shell for kindling. But it was 25°C last night. A funnel went South of here about twenty miles away last night. I'm going to put all of my solar panels back out where they normally go, and hope the Sun 🌞 is out tomorrow. They don't have any of the same battery 🔋, 24 v, 100 aH. So I am going to get one from a different brand in five days. It's $529. That will give me four of them to run the air conditioner this summer. 🥵 My main inverter charger is pure sine. I checked the price of a new one. Cheapest I could find was $926. I use the modified sine wave inverter on the coffeepot or hotplate and it works great. It's on the wind generator. Gas ⛽ is $3.09 here, but I expect it to go up soon. I finally got the North end of the greenhouse closed in with barn tin. So I'm planting squash in it, and have to make it where the squash bugs can't get in there. It's 24°C and it will be dark soon. It has rained at least two inches, maybe three. My garden is getting set in good. I've been planting the Walla Walla onions that they make onion rings out of. If I can get at least a partial day of 🌞 sun on the panels that will help a bunch. I'm hoping that by having four of the 24 v batteries that I won't need to use the gas ⛽ generator again for charging. I didn't know you had to use yours like that. I've had to use one three times. The new generator has only done it once, for a test. And that was before I had the lithium iron phosphate batteries. It's pouring rain again. It will be muddy on the North end of the barn now for a spell. That's why I never got it closed in til now. My uncle showed me, he has enough sheet metal to cover the whole North end of the barn, which was never finished. So he wants me to put the sheet metal on it. If this rain 🌧️ doesn't move out by tomorrow morning, I will have to use the gas ⛽ generator for the last time. I'll order a lithium battery 🔋 Friday. I'll try it with four of those, and four 31 series deep cycle batteries which are in parallel with the lithium batteries. That gives me 600 amp hours at 24 v. or 14,400 watt hours on the solar part. About the same on the wind generator but 12 volts. Fourteen deep cycle marine batteries. Well it works. One went bad so I'm going to use the acid out of it to fill the other ones that are low. Mixed with water 💦. When there's that many, they don't get low very often. I think it saves the batteries to have more of them. Well I am glad you got some use out of the other batteries which were still good 👍. I'm going to build a second wind generator. I already got the five blades and hub. It's going to be DC so it will have to be close to the batteries. It should make four hundred watts maybe 🤔👍. Or a bit less. I'm going to raise the other wind turbine three and a half feet, it's supposed to go in the top of the base that's concreted in. But it's chained to the side of it. That would make it 19.5 feet high instead of 16 like it is now. But I ll have to have some lightning ⚡🌩️ protection if I raise it. I want to get it up higher and see what happens...but not fry it inside, lol. I went to the other house place and cut some little trees, out of the driveway by the house. So they are being burned with the pine from my truck when I want a fire 🔥. I'm going to find a place to put the old wood stove that I used to use so I can use it inside the greenhouse. I'm gonna insulate the area around it, and have the hot water 💦 barrel in there. The one I'm supposed to be making a solar water heater for. So if there's not enough sun 🌞, I can build a fire 🔥 and still have hot water which won't be freezing 🥶❄️ and like that. I'm going to run a steel pipe through the stove to heat the water 💦 so when the insulated barrel gets to the right temperature 🌡️, U can have a warm shower 🚿. It's 55 gallons of water. They're selling this insulated board like four by eight sheets at the discount store, so I figured that would be good for the North end. I also found another big window to use on the North West corner. So I'm thinking 🤔 about putting it on there and planting some stuff in there. I give my kitty the frostbit part of my ice cream and it doesn't take much but they seem to always appreciate a bite of cream now and then. 😊 I think my waterbed mattress needs a few more gallons. Since it's running over, I'll use a bit of it. Still thundering and rain 🌧️. I had my Ranger Sport ready for take off if the hail got too big. I've got to move it and mow grass before I can put my solar panels back out. They'll be pushing 32 amps in the morning, I hope. It might go up to 37 with the batteries being so low. The controller puts out that much in the summer, so I have a twelve volt fan I aim at it in hot weather. I should probably get another one for the wind generator batteries, that would give me a spare as well. For the less windy, more sunny ☀️ days... Yeah 👍 some times I think 🤔, well if you put both of our systems together, there would be enough. Without buying gas ⛽ . Might need a little tree 🎄 work, but you need a cabin anyway, right? I'm looking for an excuse to buy a bigger chain saw.

    I too had to rebuild my door. It literally fell off the hinges I had to rebuild the frame inside. It's a lot sturdier now but I couldn't get the panels to all get inside the shims at the same time I suggest two people to hole it altogether when reassembling it. I too had to use black Duct tape for the outside. Cuz I couldn't get the panels all in at the same time. You can buy new doors. About $700 a pop, US currency.

    I would like to point out the fact that if you do put gas in your diesel heater, they only thing really you’re gonna end up dealing with is having to drain that gas tank and put gasoline in because it’s just gonna shut itself off because it’s gonna get either too hot or too cold my instance, it got too hot and it shut itself off but also if you’re building your own diesel using gasoline and used motor oil, not all motorway is the same but if you’re living how we live with no power or anything like that and you wanna be able to use a good reliable heat when you get a solar system a medium size pellet stove, works perfect

    No kindling in my trunk, but I do have a big piece of birch that I have been procrastinating on taking out. It's awesome that you barely have to use your generator! I'm using mine about 6 hours a day or more since I have no inverter for my solar panel. I'm spending way too much on gas between my generator and travel to bring my Granddaughter to school and get myself to work. it's easily $30-$40 per day. I need an oil rig, or more solar and an inverter. Show me the way Jenna!

    Enjoyed the video. Judging from the low idle power consumption shown on the inverter, it looks like your built-in converter/charger (under the fridge) is either off or not working. If it is working, some power can be saved by turning the breaker off (usually, the converter is on its own breaker). Otherwise, it's using power from the gel batteries to try and charge the same gel batteries. That's always going to waste power. Not sure if this applies to your system. Have a great week.

  • @bts650

    @bts650

    2 ай бұрын

    Now that I think about it, I believe that you have the original wires from the camper connected to the lithium battery. If the converter/charger is working, any charging output will be going to the lithium battery. The converter could still be shut off to save power on the gel battery bank.

    Yupper!! More options is more better. Swinging into summer and the days getting longer, could be you wont have to run the generator at all on a lot of days. Good Juju. And yes, gas prices are sucking, hell prices on everything is suck these days. We are all feeling that one for sure. Don't know that the conversion is on your gas prices are, but here in vegas we are running about 4.40 USD a gallon here in my neck of the woods in Vegas, and it will go a lot higher as we do every year here in the summer. Can't wait for that. Total suckage. We hit the mid 90's here in the last few weeks, but we just had a cold snap and saw some rain and hail and lower temps friday, but we will be in the mid 90's again by the end of the week. Had to run the AC for the first part of last week, opening up the house and fans won't do it at those temps, me and the doggo's cant deal with 100 degrees all day. Can't wait for those huge power bills that will be coming my way very soon. Poor Ramsey, he sure loves that kitten food. I guess they make pate` food for cats? i don't really know. Maybe giving some real chicken and fish a spin in a food processor and make your own would work for him pretty good too. Bet he would love that. Hope Rory is doing good with his issues. How's your little squirrel buddy doing i wonder? Your poor door. You will rebuild that or come up with something that is a good solution i am sure. I imagine if you really really wanted to you could beef up the casing and cut down an exterior door for a house and get that mounted in nicely. A bit of a PITA, but it would be a really good permanent solution too. You will figure out something, you always do! :) You are becoming a rock star with all your Macgyver solutions to all the troubles you have experienced over time . Honda's have a rep for being indestructible, they run forever. Pro tip to anyone in the market for a workhorse atv, go honda. You wont be sorry. As always, good vibes your way and be safe up there!! :)
