When using Teflon tape, go COUNTER Clockwise with it. That way, when you tighten the sprayer, it doesn't come loose-BTW, I really enjoy you channel. I watch many reviewers, but trust your take on your reviews the most.

You are not supposed to cut Teflon tape. You should pull it apart as cutting leaves a hard stop in the tape potentially causing leaks. When its pulled apart it leaves a semi-tapered edge which doesn't cause a bump. Its all in the directions.

Solid tips and demonstration. I also do this for poorer performing scents.

Is bestbottles still the cheapest for someone not in the biz of selling decants? I just want to give some to family/friends and for personal travel sometimes.

I decant as well on eBay, the plastic ones like you said definitely evaporate and leak more then glass. If someone does go that route I suggest using the fragrance quickly as the smell while change if left in the bottle for long enough, I have had some change color too. I may have to invest in some of that tape. I just use clear tape around the outside of the bottle where the threading is underneath and I haven't had any complaints and I've sold quite a few.

Thanks for this video, Ashton. I found it extremely helpful, as I always have a fragrance I want to bring with me on a trip, but usually don't because I don't want to loose the juice in its entirety. Somehow, I never even considered decanting the juice myself. Thanks again, its appreciated and have a great Vacation!

Thank you Alex, back when I started with frags I would just bring whole bottles. It's so much easier now to just stow away a few decants and be set.

How do you neutralize the fragrence when you want to use your funnel on multiple scents

I keep the original boxes for most of mine and carry them that way. I also decant too.

Ashton, I don't know if you noticed, but those 10ml slim glass bottles are actually 15ml! Try measuring it out.

I was hoping you would talk about the syringe method for decanting. Its alot more effective and keeps the fragrance fresh because its alot less if not at all exposed to air . Iv been having trouble with extracting some of my colognes the with syringe (needless ) and trying to see if theres other ways I can do it. I don't like spraying into bottle/funnel. I have noticed it looses potency and longevity.

Yeah I was thinking the same. I would think the fragrance chemistry changes a bit when atomized. The decant process that way, if you can smell it while doing it, that means lot of the frag atoms are in the air.

I have a question, is it really safe to use the syringe method when decanting? Won't it contaminate the fragrance inside the bottle with air? I Have a friend who used the syringe method and the scent of his cologne changed...

Every time you spray the fragrance, air has to enter the bottle to fill the space of the liquid being sprayed out... So you are introducing air every time you spray a fragrence anyway.

No problem!

The problem with flying with parfum bottles is the Air pressure in the Airplane. The change of pressure causes the Bottle to leak in the bag. Your know, when you fly and your ears hurt form the pressure diffrence and you need to de-compress, same with the Bottles, and they start leaking.

Ash how does one decant bvlgari man in black. I despise the atomizer on that perfume.

Nice Informative video. By the by, how many sprays one can expect in a 3ml decant?

I'd say 3-4 sprays per ml on average, though sometimes this depends.

I don't, they're fairly cheap in bulk so I just use a new one.

Why do I need teflon tape?(not sure on the name) I got a decant from JZ from facebook, and I removed the plastic thing near the top of the decant.. did I fuck up?

I always have decants on me, When I want to keep fragrances in my hot car I dont have to carry the whole bottle also can reapply every 4 hours or so

i have a terry Mugler atomizer 30ml comes out at Christmas time only made of glass and rubber 50$ with the juice inside its been going for 16 years no leaks i keep it my car.

Lately I've started saving and using sephora atomizers. They are really small but they are great for traveling. Also, the quality of spray is great! The best part tho, they're free!

Yeah the stuff is super cheap and it seals up the threading nicely.

5ml with daily use of about 2 sprays a day how long can it last?

I believe the rule of thumb for atomizers is 10 sprays per ml so if you only did 2 sprays a day you would get 25 days.

Great video! How do you prevent crossing the finished cologne scent with new refill of different scent? Aren't there traces of previous cologne leftover inside the atomizer, thus changing the scent?

You dont use the same decant with multiple fragrances. The smaller ones are pretty cheap...a couple of dollars. Most people aren't going to be bringing 10 different scents with them on vacation.

Gents Scents I think you leave the needle off and open the hole up on the syringe to fit over the tip. Then draw back on syringe and pump. Full of the syringe. Twist on the needle then fill the decanter. Works perfect. I’ve also used those caps that go over the top that have a straw protruding out to fill the bottle. Basically a atomizer with a long straw. Those work great if they fit the tip of the bottle.

I use lipstick atomizers whice are glass and 8 ml i get like 8 for like $15/20 never let me down going on vacation to Florida tomorrow and im taking like 20+...

If only this video came out earlier. I'm going on vacation on Saturday, I plan on taking Bvlgari Aqva Amara and Issey Miyake L'eau D'issey (finally get to try out the summer fragrances I got in the winter) but both of those are less than 100ml so I can put them in my carry on

Heather Diamond if they get hot, they're done. I used to carry them in my pocket and at the end of the day, everything else in my pocket smelled like Bleu de Chanel lol I can't use them anymore

I put mine in camera bag in lens' space

If the atomizer is crimped on I usually don't mess with it and just spray. If I didn't care about keeping the bottle I could just take everything off and use a pipette though.

This guy kills it! Jeremy is entertaining but nowhere near as concise and organized

My girlfriend works at sephora and I've been having her grab me samples whenever she works. They use nice hard plastic atomizers. I can squeeze them as hard as I can and they do not flex. They also are such a hard plastic, I have trouble believing they'd leech into the fragrance. The caps stay on fairly securely with Teflon tape added alone. You can get these from sephora for free as well.

Those are different atomizers than the ones I'm talking about in the video. The ones that I'm talking about are the 5 and 10ml plastic atomizers that you can find on eBay and that are used by myperfumesamples.com. The Sephora sample atomizers are higher quality than the more common 5 and 10ml plastic atomizers.

Gents Scents Yeah, I was mentioning it more as another option for people. It's a cheap option, but you don't get as much volume, unless you grab a few samples quite often. I should probably buy some bigger glass ones like you have.

Oh yeah, it's definitely a solid option. Sephora is very generous and the samples they give you are a high quality plastic so you don't have to worry about it shattering. I recommend going to Sephora and getting the samples to try things out (or like you said to have a smaller travel size for something you might love and already own).

That's pretty sweet though, there are a bunch of high quality designers out there and there are some great private blends too. You also don't have to try to act like you're going to purchase something to get samples ;)

I have Travalos for all by colognes. I agree buy the authentic Travalo, don't buy imitations because they will leak.

Hey. I got a quick question for yuh. I recently ordered a 5 ml decant and it came in a glass bottle. The first spray had absolutely no smell what so ever it was as if I had sprayed my wrist with water I was worried so prayed it on my other wrist and the second spray smelled perfectly the way it was supposed to (Fragrance was la nuit de lhomme btw) the scent lasted a good amount of hours and I got some compliments throughout so I don't believe it was fake or watered down ect. The same thing happened to me with a decant of spice bomb I had purchased a while back. I was just curious if you know what the reason for the first 1 or 2 sprays having no scent and then coming out perfectly fine afterwards was. Thanks P.S sorry this was so long haha

The decants usually aren't primed so that first spray may come out weaker and it may also have a bit of air in it. I wouldn't worry too much, you should be good.

I took a bottle on vacation that is now discontinued & going for good money now & it leaked from the heat from the car. Btw awesome shit!

Gents Scents yeah its nice but it dead now and in summer time its crazy packed and busy.Most local folks usually don't go there.Here is a lot more better places around bay and down south the cost to chill.Give me a holler next time u come here.

Yes that's an option. Some people may not want to pay $15 a month though for something that they already own a bottle of when they could buy a few decant bottles for $5 and then have multiple travel colognes.
