While getting more common, drones are forming their own field in transportation which is called urban air mobility. It is a fast-growing business full of possibilities. To prepare themselves, cities need to take action. They should develop strategies, allocate suitable landing spots, measure citizens’ acceptance and create permit processes for drones.
In the Baltic Sea Region, six countries aim to develop their urban air mobility (UAM) ecosystem over the coming years. With the EU-funded project, CITYAM, they are seeking new and innovative ways to incorporate drone flights and air mobility vehicles smoothly into infrastructure and everyday life.
The focus of the CITYAM project is in finding responsible and sustainable ways to integrate new air mobility technologies into traditional urban mobility systems.
