Randy, I just looked up Monster Transmission on BBB and their rating is an F!!! Lots of complaints that sounded like yours. People buying transmissions, they would fail and then no responses from Monster Transmission. You should file a complaint with the BBB. If anything it'll show other people how bad Monster Transmission really is!! Btw, PLEASE KEEP THE MONTY! It deserves a second chance!!!

Richard&Theresa Educational Transmission Videos is the new channel. He works out of a home shop now. He will build you a 200-4R that monster could only dream of. Another option, since it’s not a daily driver, is go back to basics and use a TH350 trans. Fuel mileage would be worse but so would headaches. Please don’t give up on the car…if you do you let Monster Transmission win. Show them they suck with another builder’s good work.

Randy, btw, I just wrote an email to the address you supplied for Monster Transmissions. Pretty much laid out how poorly the company looked to hundreds of thousands of viewers of both your YT page and your FB page, and that they need to address the situation in order to salvage whatever reputation their company still has among that viewership and of course you. We're standing with you 1000%, and hope to see much, much, much more content involving your baby, this fantastic Monte Carlo. This car is worth keeping Randy, even if Monster has dumped on you. Peace out brother.

It's crazy how people think a sponsored product is 'free' Randy had to fulfill his contract with Monster, he had to make videos that showed the product and he had to talk about the product. He had to trust the sponsor that the product is reliable and that he would be given customer support if there were any problems. He was let down by Monster and his whole trip and videos took a financial hit. Not to mention it effected his obligations to his other sponsors. So no, being given a sponsored product that fails isn't right because Randy fulfilled his side of the deal and Monster ended up costing Randy more all for a "free" paper weight that is supposed to be a transmission

Mike is a good man and a good friend. Richard Crich is the guy from Performance Transmission in Amarillo. Richard and his wife are doing transmission repair instructional videos on a new KZread Channel. I'm not sure if, or where, he's still doing transmission repairs. He'd be worth contacting though. Look at the first gear ratio on the TH200R4 and compare it to the TH700R4/4L60. The 4l60 and TH700R4 were more of a truck transmission with a lower first gear to get loads rolling. The TH200R4 was geared for automobiles. The 200 makes a nice transmission for a cruiser. You have to make sure you get the correct bellhousing bolt pattern on the TH200 cuz they used them on the V6 & Buick Olds Pontiac & Caddy V8 engines as well as the Chevy V8 engines. When I was a young man I heard there were dual pattern TH200R4's but I never saw one. The only other transmission guy I've had anything to do with is Dave at Triple Edge Performance He re-built the 4T65E-HD in my LS4 Impala SS. It's lasted much longer than the original and it's still going strong.

  • @1984Cutlass2nv

The 2004R are all dual pattern except maybe some early ones first couple years if I remember right. I currently have 300k miles on the one behind my 350 olds and it came from the factory behind the 305 Chevy in my first car and I also swapped one from a 307 olds in my 87 caprice to the 305 in my 89 caprice I got later on. But yes they are a great transmission when built right.

People are watching this and as I said before, this is bad for business particularly monster transmissions. You just might have to send the Monty down the road after you come up with a plan to fix it. Send it away and monster transmissions are so unprofessional and poor in service to customer. It would be great to see what all was going on with that transmission. Let the teardown speak for itself. With a quick google search we can all see what people think of Monster transmissions and their business practices. Now lets see what their $5000.00 transmission has inside of it. I doubt they actually do any transmission work, they probably have a hand full of shops they farm the work out to. Just a thought, ✌

so sorry Randy, it is hard to tell what really happened, did you check the o ring on the input shaft? I got burned on that a long time ago the converter clutch will slip until it welds to the houseing and locks up, I think that is what happened here but it could be a pressure loss anywhere in the trans, a failed converter will almost always ruin the pump but not much else, my advice and what I would do if it was my car is replace the pump and air check that tcc circuit from the solenoid, you can do that inthe car with the pan dropped, it could be anywhere but you will hear the leak, the only way to know for sure is to cut the converter open, it could just be a broken spring, if that is it a new pump will have you on the road again

Looks like the level of quality control (or lack thereof) is what puts the monster in monster transmission. Usually you have to go to the automotive OEMs to get issues on this level.

Hey randy! I commented day one on your monster transmission video when the sponsor was in works that they was junk! I’ve personally went through 3 of them in my avalanche. A group I’m part of avalanche nation told me to stay away and I didn’t listen! There is always atleast 1 or 2 a week that post about buying one and never fails regrettably decision! One guy posted he put his in reverse and it wouldn’t come back out and monster transmission tried telling him it was his fault or the shops one I can’t remember but my point is I’m sorry you had to learn the hard way like many other about monster transmission’s! Please don’t let that spoil you from the car! Those G body Monty Carlos are only going up in value they are beautiful and very reliable cars when proper transmission of course! I recommend jasper. I put one in for 2800 bucks for my avalanche and it’s stage 2 with a corvette serbo and I’ve had zero issue comes with 3 year warranty and many people in gm forums says they honor it and the cost of putting it back in if you use a reputable shop. Go that route and keep enjoying that beautiful car!

Hey Randy, as much as it sucks these things happen. I'm very familiar with frustration towards a company. Don't nix the Monte, just deep breath and a good sleep. Start fresh.

Hello Randy, Mike aka Santa's Workshop. Let's see what's wrong with the Monster Transmission Torque Converter on the 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. Hopefully it's nothing to terribly wrong.

You need to let the car redeem itself. Monster did you wrong, not the car. Don’t let them steal your love of the car away. Don’t let them ruin it for you. This car needs to do PowerTour next year.

There are a lot of reputable transmission shops out there. Reach out to other guys you know and people like Kevin of KSR to see who they recommend for your use.

Hi Randy its sad 5th st monster is just washing their hands of the situation that they clearly got you into. Did you try T.C.I transmission or transstar. They sell transmission parts & They are nation wide. Keep videos on the Monte Carlo I'd like to see how you work that situation out

Then, where are they at They obviously treat all of their customers like this and they probably think he’s not a KZreadr. Don’t even know who he is or forgot about it but in reality, if they’re think he’s a regular customer, imagine all the other people they have sent the same stuff and was ruined and they were screwed
