    Gosh, thank you incredibly. My 7525 died, bought a 'working' one (used) for $20. 'New' one printed, but wouldn't scan. Used your video to remove the scanner section from old printer and put on 'new' one, now everything works!

    My father had bought one of these back in 2011. It sat in storage for the past 6 years when I re-discovered it and got my hands on it. I can't for the life of me get it to print even with new carts and a head. It'll either print yellow only, or dump out an empty page. Once I got it to smear a streak of black across the paper, but haven't been able to convince it to do it again. This is what I needed. Hoping tearing it apart and putting it back together will jostle the life back into it. Failing that I'm just gonna E-waste it and get a Brother printer.

    If anyone is having trouble reconnecting the wide blue ribbon to the back of the touchscreen, it is a bit more complicated than expected. If you look at the back of the touchscreen, where the wide ribbon connects, there is a grey, rectangular rolling lockbar. This bar has 2 positions: lock and unlock. It will probably still be in the "locked" position. In this position, you can see a row of little slots along its long edge. It will look like it's tilted backwards. You can't insert the ribbon if this bar is locked. It must be rolled forwards with your finger to unlock it. It will click into place. Instead of looking tilted, it will look squared. You won't be able to see the row of slots if it is unlocked. Roll it back and forth... lock it by pressing it back, unlock by pulling it forward. Make sure it's in the unlocked position (no slots visible) and slide in the ribbon. It will likely stay in, but loosely. Then press the lock bar (roll it backwards) to lock the ribbon into place. I hope this helps somebody!

    @@303electronics I have a few questions on this printer if you have time to give some advice. I noticed inside the printer, where the ink head rests, all the way to the right, there seems to be a plastic container. I think it is to catch any access ink, and it has a mesh piece. Is this where the printer head cleans itself?

  • @303electronics

    @303electronics

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@ninja226 Hi. The pads absorb excess ink, yes. The printhead is cleaned with rubber squeegee that slides back and forth under the printhead rest. The printhead cycle purges ink through printhead and then wipes it off with squeegee. It is best to clean printhead manually to avoid losing lots of ink.

    First off thanks very much for posting your video. It gave me the courage to tackle a problem that I thought would be a fairly simple fix ( a broken hinge on my HP7520 printer). I admit to being mechanically challenged but was successful in removing the broken hinge following your helpful video however.....NOT so successful in reassembly and have more than likely trashed my printer. The issues I encountered on reassembly were. (1). The L shaped plastic piece that fell out when I lifted the lid after releasing the hinges from the lid....I see this piece in your video when you lifted the lid....I cannot determine where it fits or attaches and you did not mention it in your video. (2) After replacing the broken hinge I was experiencing difficulty in reattaching the lid because of the cable connections....was hopng that I would not have to detach the cables from the circuit board as you did in your video. But alas I determined that was the only way to get the lid back on .... so despite your comment to be careful in removing the cables I inadvertently pulled the "base" of the cable from the circuit board thereby trashing the circuit board. Thanks again for your video!

    Great video. Didn't solve my issue on my 7520. And yes that's a very good printer, but instead of having 5 ink cartridges, this familly of printer should have had reservoirs (ink tanks) like the newer Epsons and Canon printers. And not only that, the manufacturer should include in the life of the printer "X" amount of print heads and an easy way to clean ink charging section and replacing the felt, and a way to replace the 3v CR2032 battery if it needs to be replace. So if HP decides to make a tank version of this printer, they should implement my ideas and they would sell a lot of them.

    Hello 303 Electronics. Thanks very much for your video. Yesterday I dismantled my HP 7520 with no problem at all. However, when I came to remove the printer unit, with all screws removed, the right hand side would not release, but there seemed to be nothing holding it. I had noticed that when you were finally removing this unit it did seem to be reluctant to come away. So I gave it a bit more of a pull and it released, but was bringing some sponges with it. I did not want that to happen as they were soaked in thick black ink, as was everything else in that area, I just pushed them aside. I then found I could not remove it completely as it was still held in place by 3 pipes on a bracket mounted to the base, I release the bracket. On removal of the print unit I found that there were 5 free floating pipes, where 3 of these had obviously pulled of one side of the bracket, whilst the other 2 I can only assume were open-ended and placed among the sponges on the baseplate. The dilemma now is which out of the 5 pipes were connected to the bracket and in what order, and where were the other 2 placed with respect to the sponges. I would be grateful if you were able to shed any light on this dilemma as to where these pipes connect. I have a photo of it that I have marked up the pipes and the bracket. This could sent to you if it would help. So far I have washed out all the sponges and the baseplate. I do intend to clean all the old ink from the black parts on that side of the print unit. As there are no electrical connections to worry about I may well just wash it through with running water. Best regards, Dave.

    It would be soooo helpful if in your “printer repair and mantenamce” playlist, you make a playlist for HP, another playlist for Cannon and another for Epson, etc. And even better would be to clump together like printers, ie. All HP Photosmart. Maybe alphabetize groups in one manufacturer’s playlist. 189 videos is a lot to sort through when you need help.

    Thanks for the video and great directions. I have been getting a "problem with red cartridge" message that prevents any operation. I put in a new HP red and it resolved the issue shortly but then it returned--on and off. I cleaned the print head and all the connections to each cartridge and behind the print head contacts-both sides. I was jiggling the print head ribbon cable one day and that seemed to get it going sometimes. I took it all apart today (thanks to your encouragement) and cleaned all ribbon cable connections and sockets to no avail. I replaced the battery. Could I have a broken wire in the ribbon cables from the print head to the main circuit board? Bad connection from printer head to the small print head circuit board the 2 little ribbon cables connect to? Bad solder on that small printer head board? I ordered 3 Brother printers a month ago and there are none to be had due to shipping crisis. I would like to get this 7520 going but am out of ideas. Seems parts are crazy expensive. Any ideas as to what I can check??? I tried slipping a blue HP cartridge in the red slot and is says damaged or missing red. It isn't sensing the red cartridge is good and in place. I see one guy re-soldered some bad power connector contacts so solder may be an issue but I have power and when it decides to work it works great. Something intermittent is the problem and it is now to the point it doesn't work ever. I hate to spend money on another red cartridge. I really appreciate your videos and advice. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi 303 Electronics - Thank you for posting this video. I managed to follow your video step-by-step and was able to dissemble and re-glue my broken gear that moves the ADF for general paper printing. One of the mishaps that I found was ensuring that the printer assembly was aligned properly so that the duplex part is able to enter, so I had to dissemble and reassemble again. The printer is working mechanically, but the control panel is no longer responsive or lights up. Also, my power button and wifi light no longer work. I'm able to print documents via the cloud, just need to disconnect the cable to shut it off. Do you have any suggestions on how to remedy this? If you really like this printer, you can get a replacement on ebay or local ads. You will find that HP Photosmart 7510, 7515, 7520, and 7525 are all similar. Save your ink and printhead since sometimes when ou get a used printer, those are needed. Easy to swap out.

    15:28 you show the underside of the print head assembly and the ink feed tubing. on the tubing is there 2 return tubes that just sit in the 'soak' padding or do they actually connect to something ?

    15:33 I can see the 'three' pair tube that runs to the head? but I can't see where the other 2 singular tubes are positioned. When disconnecting the right front facing side of the carriage, mine didn't come up as easy as yours. so I worked it until it just fell loose, (on yours there is a screw holding them to the bottom of the assembly with a white 'mount hold' but you just ripped yours out. I'm needing to clean the "ink" buildup all in the carrage and reassemble to hopefully fix for a client.

  • @303electronics

    First thing to check is to make sure all ink cartridges are down and locked. Squeeze your hand over the printhead and make sure all cartridges are down.. If that is all good,, try this: Open the cover on side of the printer where printhead is. You need to remove 2 or 3 screws to do that and the side pops off like I show in this video. Then spin the gear exposed and the the mechanism that locks the carriage will release the carriage.

  • @303electronics

    @303electronics

    4 жыл бұрын

    It most likely is not the scanner. When you are printing from the computer, are the pages also blank? If so, the ink cartrudges are dry or printhead is clogged. Also to test if your scanner lamp is working, make a scan to computer or media card. If the scan is successful, then scanner is working properly.

    The timingvstrip needs to be put back in position. It is a small film in the back of the carrier which is attached from one side to the other. If it is not fed through properly, it will not be able to direct the carrier where to go and it will behave the way your printer is now.

    This video is essentially useless for repairing the ADF on top of the machine. There's a little blue power ribbon that attaches next to the hinge on the document feeder. When it comes out, you're done. It isn't going to be reattached... no matter what. End of story. This is an example of a completely ridiculous engineering design. It really makes that repair impossible. If that is actually the purpose, it doesn't motivate me to buy another HP printer... even though the machine is quite durable and lasted a good long time. A complete replacement of the top half of the machine may be possible. But disconnecting the power to that seems to be overlooked too. This video is useful if you only want to take the machine apart, for some reason.
