Taking a look at the Gretsch G5622T

I demo and review the Gretsch G5622T, from the Electromatic Centerblock series. I go through all pickup positions with no backing track, then play the Gretsch to a backing track and offer my thoughts.

I’ve got my eye on three different Gretsch guitars at the moment and I can’t decide which to get first. The G5622T comes in Cadillac Green now, I think I hear it calling my name. Thanks for the clear and concise review

Hi Leonard - glad that I discovered your channel! The G5622T is a killer. I discovered the Gretsch magic on a visit to Nashville last year. The Country Music Hall of Fame has Chet Atkins' 1954 Prototype G6120 on display. As we roamed the museum, we ended up in the Museum store. In addition to a few Electromatics and Acoustics, they had a custom G6120 in that beautiful Gretsch clear orange on the wall that is a complete recreation of that 1954 that was presented to Chet. I spoke with the clerk (who actually knew something about the items in the store) and she shared that it was a 36 unit limited build. My wife saw it and commented on how it was different then any of my existing guitars. Needless to say, I now own a G6120-CMHOF that is sheer joy to play. That was the dam-buster, and now I also own a G5123T Electromatic Jet FT in Cadillac Green and I'm working towards a G2022 Jr. Jet short scale bass. I've gone through more Fenders and Gibsons over my 53 years of playing to open a super store, but these Gretsch guitars are so different and special. Looking forward to more playing and info #BluesForever

Well thank you my friend. That’s very cool and I’m really happy you found my young channel. As you saw, I was pretty impressed by the relatively affordable Electromatic. My previous experience was with my Dad’s 60s model and a recent, made in Japan Duojet and honestly I wasn’t expecting much of the Electromatic, but it’s really quite nice. Stay tuned.

Such a beautiful guitar and a very great tone!!! Hey Leonard, please help me to solve a doubt: I have a G5622, I love it, but I'm not sure at all the volumes circuit does working properly, I mean: when the selector is in the middle position with the two pickups, if I decrease one volume till 0 the another one pickup continues working. I have other models as casino and the circuit behave different. Hopefuly you can provide me some light how works in your g5622. Thanks in advance!

@@NiekkieNick A roller bridge is an option, but the standard T.O.M. should work satisfactorily if you're not overly enthusiastic with the Bigsby. Sparingly lube the T.O.M. bridge saddles (the V notches); check the nut for any binding, correct if necessary and lube as warranted. If you still have tuning instability issues, consider some quality locking tuners.
