I was cynical to start, but yeah that is awesome and a massive upgrade to the veneer and I've always loved the IronGear pick ups.

Thanks. I really like IronGear pickups as well, they sound great for the money
Cardboard on the band-saw was very clever. Nicely done!
I love that you made it your own! Great job!
That copper is lovely. I think brass rivets and pickup covers would have looked better. but lovely job overall.
Awesome. Looking forward to the next one!

You are so talented and creative. Hey when I see someone so young and hardworking it is inspiring. Oh hey I wish I could have long hair like you. When I was young I did but it scares me when I see you around power tools that your hair could get entangled in and hurt you. . .might wanna consider a safe way keep it. Even a silly drill could give a yank and hope nothing ever happen like that. Enuff old man advice...just had to put my hand built project on hold and come write to you . I'm waiting for my Chinese Steinberger (Chynberger?) from DHGate to arrive to me in the US. It's been going back and forth in China for the past 10 days. I wonder if I'll ever get it. How are those Chinese tremolos? I'm wondering if there's a way to retro fit a Floyd Rose type on the body. I'm guessing some wood need to be added and then some new holes drilled.
@horsefighter_69
Жыл бұрын
The stock tremolo systems are alright, they stay in tune ok if you don't abuse them. Fitting a Floyd Rose is not super difficult, you'll have to put some wood back in, and then route out everything as usual.
I hope you have figured out by now to use vacuum bags when doing veneers, this will let you shape it around the contours.
I have a weird question, how long is the finished product?

Pretty nice end-product overall. I would have used copper or brass rivets or fasteners instead of aluminum. A little polish with a Dremel tool would have complemented the copper top better. An epoxy adhesive might have better secured down the copper top when combined with wood clamps until completely dry and might have negated the need for rivets/fasteners entirely, but I did like the bit of "steam-punk" look it gave it. What chemical mixture was used to get the aesthetic effect on the copper top? Headless Ormsby Goliath multi-scale fanned fret guitar models, (I forget which run), came with similar chemically oxidized copper tops. Was that your inspiration? Aesthetically, you pretty much nailed it, sound-wise? Meh! The tone was pretty badly off, but short of a different pickup choice, I'd be hard-pressed to narrow down the reasons for its short-comings. It was a brave effort though, and with some more time you might re-visit the project and refine away its faults. In any event, there is no way I could part with it in its current state. Guess I'm too much of a perfectionist.
Wow..keren ist good job
Will the bridge hold tuning when we abuse it like flyod rose, if not how can we upgrade it?

Great vid! Thinking of getting one of these, hardtail version tho. How were the frets on this straight out the box? Kit guitars seem to be a bit all over the place when it comes to frets
@horsefighter_69

It's pretty good, my particular kit only has one low spot around the 2nd and 3rd frets of the E and A strings. The rest is all good.
I still would worry about cutting myself on some part of the guitar at some point.
What liquids did you use for the colors? I only can see white vinegar
@horsefighter_69

It's white vinegar, salt and ammonia. You pour the ammonia in the container to vaporize, then you pour salt and vinegar on top of the copper.
