No, he draws a light rough sketch on a piece of paper and inks over it with another piece of paper.

No he probably doesn’t sketch first since drawing freehand with a pen actually isn’t hard for professional artists or even someone who just draws enough

And every other artist do too.... Obata art is incredibly but draw a character's face with a Sharpie, is the basic of the basic for a artist, all the others can do it in whatever hour

+Leon Rodrigues And they've drawn it hundreds... thousands of times. They probably know the characters inside and out, and don't even have to try really hard to put those on paper. It's second nature to them.

No, if you see more closely, he already drew the outlines. He is just going or tracing his outlines with a black marker. Hes not doing it without reference. Theres clearly a small outline of the character underneath the paper

Death Note ended years ago and it’s still almost as popular if not as popular as how it was when it was getting serialised. 2 legends making one of the best manga in history!

Darius Ratliff For some reason, I like Yusuke Murata more than Takeshi Obata, even though Yusuke is originally Obata's apprentice/assistant, he kinda evolved to a bit different.

Obhata was shy.They stressed that at the time of the signing.I did have time to say something quick like Hello n that was it. To be honest, I had more of a conversation with Masashi Kishimoto who was at NYCC this year.His translator was by him and he devoted a few minutes to each fan
