They'd probably laugh and wonder why you were drawing things so realistically and following the rules of perspective. That was their reaction to the Jesuits at that time. Have to remember how insolationist and conservative Japan was for two centuries starting in the 1600s, funnily enough.

I bow down to his knowledge of human anatomy and the way he renders the flesh of human figures... So flawless, Respect!
The thing that impresses me the most about this isnt the art, but the way he makes it, complete silence, it just shows how focused he is when making it, no distractions, no "getting excited" just pure ice cold focus...
everytime i see this video, a small part of my inner vagabond is dying. would've loved to see the series ending. nevertheless i can understand that if you force an artist to end a series just for the sake of it, it's just not worth it. so maybe he will one day be interested in the series again. such a good artist

I know a guy from a really big manga publisher here in Argentina (Editorial Ivrea), where I live. He is a friend of Takehiko Inoue, like, really friend. Everytime he travel to Japan, they met and share a dinner together and stuff. He told these guy I know that he is gonna finish Vagabond in the future. It's just that he want to spend time with his kids, because they are soon to be teenagers, and wanna enjoy these part of their life to the fullest. Once that's all over, he's gonna continue with Vagabond. This was told to us in an interview the publishers did in April 2021 I bealive, so it's pretty recent.

@norakirayumi

@@user-iy7jo7bq4f uh.. as I said, *manga artist.* So yeah, I obviously meant that, LITERALLY. Manga, directly translated into english does mean comic book. But it's specific for *Japanese comic.* That's why Korean use the word 'manhwa' and Chinese use 'manhuà' to represent their respective comics. Because while all the words directly translated as 'comic', each of them specifically meant to represent the respective culture where they originated from. Otherwise, every comic in the world would be just the same with no diversity.
this is why i prefer old artist like this who use more hand drawing then digital...you can see the guy clearly draw with such imaginary mind and and patience.
I think this guy can be one of my favorite japanese artists besides katsuhiro otomo .
