I believe that all the FLs are quite strong but Medea, Roxanna, Aria are the true villainesses and women you never in hell wanna mess up with, like they can overshadow any male leads, they are just so so powerful..!! I whole-heartedly admire them! For all those asking me to add certain fmls, yes I love those fmls very very much but what I meant by my above comment is about cruelty. The above mentioned can really be very cruel. They only got a redemption arc to redeem themselves or they would have been the toughest and cruelest villainess ever. The others yes, they are very strong, brave, admirable and what not but they aren't as cruel as these characters can be.

YES, they are really strong but not because they have the power of female lead, they actually are very well writen and structured characters who are not afraid to be evil or risk their lives or of those around them for what they want, really scary but so striking too

For everyone is saying that Roxana is this 'evil villainess' I honestly don't think she is. Cunning and smart you mean. But I don't think she fits the villainess trope well. She's definitely not as evil as you make her seem. She's more of an anti-hero, a neutral character although she isn't evil or batshit crazy. Her goal is to bring down her father and the Agriche family. But aren't they already a menace to society itself? She's doing the world a huge favor. First of all she helped Cassis escape. Although it's more of something she has to do to prevent her death. Before Cassis, she wasn't really interested in the Agriche family's 'so-called toys' she isn't in to unnecessary torture and only results to violence when someone has crossed the line. She wouldn't ruin an innocent person's life. Although she's someone who has adapted to the Agriche standards, it's only a facade and it doesn't do anything for her except fool her family. It's not in her favor to become an Agriche, and she thinks it disgusting when she realizes she's already becoming one. A villainess is supposed to be wicked and twisted. The one who ruins lives, the one who swore revenge. But is smart,cunning, and calculated in doing so. Everything she's doing is an act and it doesn't mean she takes pleasure in doing so. It's only for survival because she's in the Agriches' territory. She has to act like one. She's just a neutral cunning character who will get her ends. She won't do anything unreasonable or unnecessary to get her way either. She isn't plotting for revenge, nor is she making anyone's life worse. She's honestly just trying to survive. Saying that she's a 'villainess' is an overstatement. That isn't her novel's purpose. Even the OG! Roxana in the original novel isn't evil and isn't classified as a 'villainess' Yes she will act evil if needed to, but not a villainess. She isn't a saint either. Like I said, she's a neutral character. She's written so well and her character is flawless. It was able to mislead the readers into thinking she's a 'villainess' but you need to look beyond that to confirm it.

I really wanted to read a story where the female lead was strong, intelligent and most importantly, didn't require any assistance from any mls. Medea is everything I wished for. Even if she is just a drawing, she protrudes so much power and intimidation. While she is in the story, all mls just become side characters we don't need to care about.

I really liked "The Remarried Empress". It has a strong fl, and yeah, she is helped a little by a ml, but generally the ml in it is in a supporting role rather than in the lead. He supports her plans and actions rather than making her follow his own. All of the support of the greatest manga romances, with none of the condescension from the (true) ml to the fl (or vice versa).

most "badass" women u see tend to be brash & tomboy-ish but these women arent afraid to wear gowns & dresses whilst overpowering everybody at the same time. however, i really tend to find medea standing out among all the rest even though i love them all equally. i dont know why but her intellect, beauty & strength seems to be unmatched (at the very least, in my opinion ✌🏻)

Firentia ( I'll be the matriarch in this life) 5. Elisa/Veronica (shadow queen) 6. Penelope Eckart (villains are destined to die) They're all strong badasses and I think it's personally concerning that I've read them all.

Thank you for the novels list. I think " The Villainess Lives Twice" should also be mentioned alongside these novels. The FML is an actual villainess who has schemed and plotted the death and injustice of a kingdom and helped her cruel brother become king, in other words an actual villainess not some school bully as most villainess stories lol. She is then sent back in time with a magic ritual and now she plots the downfall of the old king, her family and many corrupt nobles and usurp the throne for another man of her choice. A very intelligent, calculating and scheming FML

Beware of the villainess is def one of my faves. I love Melissa, but like, I loved most of the characters. Yona, Nine, Yuri.. The characters and the art in «The way to protect the female lead’s brother» though. Roxanna gotta be one of the most beautiful, but complex, female characters I’ve encountered.
