Wow I just saw the short video clip of this on my KZread timeline and had to go find this full version and you are nothing short of amazing!! And like someone else noted on here, you do a spot-on Mark Knopfler vocal every time, almost as if he was there singing along with you on this and any other cover reworking 😳

Couldn’t wait to see if Knopfler could hit that high note. Very skillfully avoided while still sounding fantastic. Awesome stuff!

This recreation is fantastic -- exactly what says in the title. No nonsense, no idiotic chit-chat. And the precise Knopfler direstraitsy feeling. The original composition is nice. Lots of people thought less of the musicians of A-Ha because of their good looks, but they were great.

"Take On Me" was the last song I ever played on the air as a radio DJ. I was one of the weekend part-timers who were all former full-time radio people now doing something else, but who wanted to still be DJs, too. We had the best ratings (I did better at 1 pm on Sunday than the weekday morning drive show), but rather than figure out what we were doing so well and having the weekday crew do it, too, they canned all of us. Incredibly, they not only wanted us to work out our two weeks' notice, they also paid each of us a bonus to do so because the replacements (kids straight out of radio school with zero pro experience) weren't able to start yet. That was too good an opportunity to pass up and as the shop steward, I knew we had an ironclad grievance ready to go. I ended my last show with "Take On Me" and first thing the next morning, the union filed that grievance. Bottom line: I got the two week's pay, the bonus, and about eight month's pay for dismissal without cause and punitive damages. The rest of the weekend crew got a similar payout and the station was also fined for illegal labour practices. I liked "Take On Me" from the first time I heard it and I really liked using it as my "farewell and FU song", so it has a special meaning for me. However, that does not mean it's sacrosanct and untouchable. I *really* love your arrangement and performance. You are a genius, sir.

That's quite the interesting tale! I think most of the songs I experiment with have emotional value to lots of people. Some can appreciate the fun of it and some can't. That's alright though. Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks a lot for your heart, Laszlo. Adding: in general, 70s disco hits in the style of PF/DS could be a true treasure trove to explore! Idem for 70s Prog Rock hits increasingly discovered by Millennials/legendary songs for those of us that lived back then (ex. Kate Bush, Prog Rock Genesis, Prog Rock Supertramp, Prog Rock APP, ELO,..).
