I am an old dude; I actually knew John in the late 70s; I was living in Aspen...of course he really was just as sweet a guy as you would imagine he was; He used to do free concerts in the park for the local kids; he built a new High School for them, and would not allow the town to name it after him...he was just the coolest

I was visiting a friend in Aspen in early Dec. 89' when they were setting up the gazebo for Johns Christmas special production that night. we went out to a bar instead.. a lifetime regret 😔

I grew up playing this song and singing it while living in Maryland. Now West Virginia is my home and this song is the mantra , the soul and the spirit of this great state! The tagline take me home country roads is on everything, license plates, tee shirts , tourism advertising, etc. John Denver made us proud with this great song and Emily did it justice! I went to Calgary Stampede last summer, and of course this was one of the tunes they played there, and I've had it stuck in my head ever since. Another demonstration of how good lyrics, simple chords, and simple melodies can all come together to make a great song.

Hey brad what happed to EMILY that shes home safe and sound? I dont get much on social media much other than music on u tube. Btw i am going to do a concert late summer and your invited. Mostly stuff like moody blues ,elp , america seals and crofts outside with a fire and bbq and friends at my small ranch. Last will be my original music and my new song about my raven. I also am a pilot and when i worked the flight line i fueled John on many ocasions .I also took care of roy clarks diamond jet 56rc .So Emily doing johns plane was awesome. I cried and broke down when john crashed his long easy. It was a very sad day

It’s just a common greeting I always use.😊 I was saddened when John crashed as well. His music is timeless. Speaking of that, every single one of the groups that you mentioned you were covering is in that same category as far as I’m concerned. We must have certainly grown up in the same era. You are a keyboardist right? I seem to remember you mentioning that, and with ELP and the Moody Blues on the list, it makes sense for sure. Sorry this response is so late. I actually began writing it a couple of hours ago, (the good morning and nothing happened lines,) but stepped away from the computer and just got back. Mom’s in the hospital and she called just as I was starting to respond to you. Hey, rather than writing in Em’s comments, if you have instagram, she just did a post on this song in there. Find my comment, and send me a friend request or I guess in there it’s a request to follow, and I will accept and do the same back to you, and then we can use DMs to chat. I remember John Denver like it was yesterday. When my kids were young and we were going on long drives, we would all burst into song, our favourite was ‘Grandma’s feather bed’. Other nearby drivers must have thought us a cookie lot, singing at the tops of our voices. Loved those years.
