Original version of The Time Machine for me. The most interesting part is how the Eloi blew off all ambition and learning letting their books turn to dust. This isn't a trend far from the truth by the looks of things. Better actors in it too.

Thanks, Barkey! I didn't even know of the third version of _The Time Machine,_ but I won't see it. I'd almost rather see the 2002 version, and I passed on that when it came out! The one by George Pal is still the best. Why? Because Yvette Mimieux is perfect as Weena. So beautiful and such an ingenue.

Trivia: The Sitges Film Festival (Spain) confers the Time Machine Award to those personalities who have greatly influenced film history. The award itself is a miniature replica of the 60s Time Machine.

You want to know what would I do with a time machine? I would paint some flames on the hood and put a bunch of cool stickers on it; mostly Ninja Turtle ones.

George Pal films were so good. The martian death rays in War of the Worlds, the hero fighting the brute in the arena in the film Atlanta's, also the Laser atop the pyramid blasting the wood ships, and the dead Morlock rotting away before George's eyes as his machine moves into the future. That scene was so realistic, especially for the 60's

I still love the 1960 movie, even if it is a bit dated now, and Rod Taylor is wonderful as the Time Traveler. The effects are pretty good, even if they film everything completely on the lot (including a view of a very familiar main street set!) and it shows. I absolutely fell in love with Yvette Mimieux from this film. And to this day, that fantastic sleigh is one of the three most recognized time machines in media (along with the TARDIS and the DeLorean). Bob Burns (Tracey the Gorilla from the Ghost Busters TV series) owns the Time Machine prop today, and it showed up in Gremlins and Carl Sagan's Cosmos. MGM used the Morlock underground set a lot over the next several years, including in a couple of Twilight Zone episodes. I quickly recognized the set in the Fourth Season episode, On Thursday We Leave for Home. In the 80s, they did a kind of "sequel" to the Time Machine set during World War I when George tries to convince Filby to accompany him into the future while avoiding mentioning that Filby is destined to die shortly -- and got Rod Taylor, Alan Young, and Whit Bissell to reprise their roles. That was cool. The 2002 remake was such utter crapola though, and I didn't much care for the TV remake either. I did like Time After Time, however. Malcolm McDowell made an interesting HG Wells, and, of course, you can never go wrong with David Warner as the bad guy.

The 60's version is the best. Closest to the Book of all 3, but it keeps the Fun Element way better than the other 2. 2002 version had to toss in a pointless love/angle that just annoyed me. But if I had The Time Machine, like in the 60s or 2000's version. If I can't travel in Space as well, that is a bit of a hinderance. But one thing I would do. Go buy some Wine and Booze, bury it in my backyard a hundred years ago, then go dig it back up when its good and aged! Fun Stuff like that!

All right, Barkey! 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦 (1960) is one of my favourites. And indeed, you must do a review of 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 (1979), as I've long been fond of that one as well. Thanks, as always!

He sometimes appeared on-camera, too. He's the reporter walking around recording his report when they were setting up to drop the atomic bomb on the Martians in "War of the Worlds" (1953).

Stopping George Lucas from signing Starwars over to Disney definitely has merit! But I wouldn't stop there! I'd WARN them about Cathleen Kennedy and show them all of the money they'll lose and how much trouble they'll have getting her out of there.
