Interesting. In 1977 when I was in my early teens my family moved to North Port from Ohio. Back then North Port was a one-horse town. It had nothing but a Winn Dixie and a couple of gas stations. The kids had to be bussed to Englewood for school. Being that there weren't too many kids and really nothing to do we resorted to raising a little Hell. A few times a bunch of us kids would sneak inti the Warm Mineral Springs and go swimming. It was privately owned back then, and security was lacking. I recall once we took some of the deck chairs and tossed them into the middle where the deepest part is. ( Not proud of it, we were just dumb kids) 30 some years later I was watching a documentary about divers who dove all the way to the bottom and took footage. As I watched it low and behold there were the deck chairs we so delinquently tossed over many - many years ago. The narrator even mentioned them. I haven't been back there for over 40 years and more than likely never will. Thats my warm MINERAL springs story!

Wear a HAT while swimming because you'll get a sunburned scalp (even if you have hair). Many people swim with t-shirts on to prevent sunburn on thier shoulders. Also wear water shoes because the low acidity makes the rocks feel slimy.

There are lifeguards there I think if they were alligators even attempting to go anywhere near that the lifeguards would alert people. I’ve gone for many years now and never once was worried about that I was more worried about snakes but never saw snakes so that’s laid to rest as well.

@@karlwashere123 semantics? The water exiting a properly functioning septic doesn't have any foul odor. It also doesn't contain any fecal bacteria (the smell). Every state has septic systems. Pennsylvania probably has a higher ratio of septic vs sewer systems than Florida. Most of the population lives in metropolitan areas and we don't have the Amish .

@@madmagyver9981 90% of every septic tank on the water's edge are installed improperly. I know entire community septic tanks that go underwater during the rainy season. Yeah if you're up to code and you have it lifted it's not so bad. They go under water and it bubbles right out the top. And it's not the fecal matter that gets to you. It's the bacteria that blooms.. Florida water is notorious for giving people ear infections. Why? Bacteria..
