Okay, couple of issues with the things you're saying; 1). MP-09 actually does scale with the modern Masterpiece line. He was actually the first of the 10 inch scale MP's. Measure him. He's 10 inches tall, and even the Masterpiece Wiki states that MP-09 Rodimus was actually the template for the current scale. He does scale perfectly with MP-10. Rodimus is supposed to be the same size as Optimus once he inherits the matrix of leadership. That's why Takara made MP-28 Hot Rodimus - to more accurately represent Hot Rod before he became Rodimus, (and of course because they figured people would buy the product). 2). How is the trailer "too big"? He's supposed to have a giant trailer - that's his alt mode - now, granted, we've never really gotten a clear explanation as to what Rodimus's alt mode actually is, but we've seen the scale in the cartoon, and it's obviously supposed to be just as big or bigger than a semi truck cab, so your logic as to why the trailer is too big doesn't really make sense.

@@TMReviews It's not a contentious issue at all. MP9 scales perfectly with MP10. Robot modes are same height and if you ever watched the cartoon you would know Rodimus trailer mode is about the same size as Magnus (slightly shorter) which is exactly what we have here. You are the only person on planet Earth I've ever heard saying that MP9 is out of scale or that it's a "matter of debate". The knock off is the one whose trailer mode is way too small. You're probably used to that so the correct scale looks "too big" to you.

He does scale with the MP line. Hell MP-10 was made to scale with this figure which was the new scale used for the current MP line. His vehicle mode in not too big and is in scale as it should be. There’s nothing off about Rodimus Primes vehicle mode, Hot Rods car mode is too big yes. But this knock off Rodimus Prime or whom ever he’s supposed to be shouldn’t even be what this figure is compared to. He looks nothing like the G1 counterpart so is completely irrelevant especially the comments about the paint not being exactly like the toon, he isn’t toon or G1 at all. At least pretend like you know what your reviewing.

Loved the mini camaro at the end of the video. Great review as usual.

masterpiece Rodimus is in scale with Masterpiece hotrod AND the other 3rd season Masterpiece figures. If you look at the scale chart MP-09 is right in line with what the MP-10 scale is in bot mode. Hotrod scales perfectly with MP-09. I know because I'm a scale nut, measure everything and analyze pictures and everything. He is a little tall with the legs extended but he fits perfectly in an MP shelf with the MP 3rd season Masterpiece figures available

I don't have any issue with scale in robot mode, my issue is with the scale in vehicle mode, especially the trailer. However, it's all in the eye of the beholder and if you like the scale then I'm glad. I personally want a third option from Takara which I think is coming. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I'm so glad they fixed the issues with the re-release. I agree, we need a new Rodimus Prime V2 to scale with the MP Line. I still like DX9 Carry and will keep both, but I am a Rodimus fan!

I really don't mean to offend you or be rude but I don't see where you're seeing the "divided community". I read all the comments and everyone except you seems to agree that MP9 is perfectly in scale with MP10 and the rest as robot and vehicle (at least in Rodimus Prime mode, of course not in Hot Rod mode).

Thanks for the review. I got the original release MP-09 and love it! Fortunately I have had no breaking issues with it. I do take care of it and I also Armor All the tires :) Highly recommended to help prevent the rubber tires from cracking for Mp-09 and especially Mp-10. Takara packed so much into this toy, it is truly amazing. From the ability to transform into both Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime in both robot modes and vehicle modes, this this is an engineering marvel and, hands down, it just nails that G1 cartoon aesthetic in all modes. I might pick up a second MP-09 for the improvements in the joints but I am just glad more people are able to get this great toy. Plus in his Hot Rod mode he scales perfectly with my MP-01 and in Rodimus Prime mode he scales with my MP 10. What other MP can do that?

@@TMReviews From what you pointed out in the video, I think the improvements they made in this toy is probably the best we are going to get. In many ways I see the designers and engineers handling the MP line, a smaller company working within a larger company of Takara and to some extent Hasbro. They only have so many resources devoted to this line and now they are branching out into Beast Wars. There are still so many other great G1 characters that have never gotten any representation in the MP line. Fortunately, the pain is lessened a bit with great third party companies like Fans Toys picking up the slack. Thanks again for the video.

The only thing I don't like about dx9 is those wings. But it looks nice.

Just going back to watch this old video because I gifted myself the black MP-09 for Christmas. And yikes, it's a mess to transform, but it's a fantastic looking figure in robot mode. I wasn't originally going to leave a comment here but after you mentioning a number of times that MP-09 doesn't scale with the current MP line, I thought "hmm, that's not right" because I currently have him standing next to MP44 and they're exactly the same size in robot mode. So then I read through some of the comments and was surprised to see that his scale was an issue of great debate for a while. Granted, this was all before my time, and I also have never seen MP-10 in person so I can't say anything for sure about how the scale used to shake out, but he definitely scales with my current collection. Either way, great blast form the past here.

the KO figure at the end is an upscale knock-off of Transformers Prime legends class Cliffjumper/Tailgate. A great little figure with a crazy amount of articulation and a fun transformation for a legends class.

This is based on the Hasbro version, thats why the elbows are so weird. You can actually fix it if you take apart the arms and use epoxy putty to add a squared off section to the bottom of that black inner elbow piece. The Hasbro version also came with a targetmaster, takara is including that same target master with the reissue of the smaller hot rod MP. Also this Rodimus has 2 faces and a pair of flip out sun glasses. You just have to lift up the helmet to access them.

... He's Hot rod accurate(MP9). Rodimus Accurate is more what D9 is. It's a minor difference but the difference is there.

Everywhere I look says that Carry is 9.5 inches tall and Mp-09 is 12 inches tall. It's obviously waaaay closer than that. Any idea of the true heights?

I don't want to be that guy, but I also want to share my opinion if that's okay with everybody? I think the MP9 even as hot rod is in good scale with the other Masterpiece Transformers no hear me out, in the movie he was supposed to be a super big car like he was bigger than most Transformers when he was in his car mode and then when he transformed he got into his normal shape. Also if you watch one of the later episodes in Transformers season 3 of G1 he's just as big as Optimus Prime as hot rod, and I personally love his trailer, idk why I just do. Everybody has their own opinion and I just thought I should share mine I am, everyone has their own and whoever wants to criticize go ahead, I just hope everyone has a good rest of their lives. Also, great job on the video dude, you do great, keep it up and keep being the transformers nerd you are, like the rest of us^-^

It looks like you have MP09 in Hot Rodimus/Hot Rod mode instead of the "taller" Rodimus Convoy/Rodimus Prime mode. (You definitely don't have the Rodimus face set on him) MP09 had a pair of guns based on the G1 Hot Rod toy (obviously for the Hot Rod mode), which combined into Rodimus Prime's photon eliminator rifle. Carry having a Targetmaster that changes into it (and a lot of folks think was a bad job of it) is just inaccurate.

To me, the Takara Tomy Rodimus Prime just looks like an upscaled version of Hot Rod. There isn't any visible difference. Body wise, yeah sure, he looks quite close to the cartoon but the face sculpt, it just looks like Hot Rod whereas the DX9 version, he looks more mature and somewhat heroic and has a sense of grandeur to him, but most of all, I love that the DX9 version is an all in one piece transformation. For my one, I bought the missing yellow spoiler that is absent from above the cab part.

I had the original G1 back in the day but it always use to urk me that he didn't scale up to the G1 Galvatron. G1 Galvatron scaled with G1 Ultra Magnus but Rodimus Prime just looked like a scrawny child in comparison. But now, DX9 Carry against FT Sovereign. I'm happy.

Sort of, the tabs fit fine but the hands don't close around it so its not secure. I filmed it but ultimately cut it from the video because it was clunky.

The mp will always look best .it's just the quality of parts that ruined it.if you take the time to do some mods and swap out the joints, the figure Is pretty badass.the dx9 is its own figure and worth keeping both ,one as hot rod (mp)and the other as rp.

If you watched g1 Series rodimus was the same size as optimus, dx9 carry is nowhere close. Mp09 hands down.

My copy has tight upper knee joint. I was careful on flexing the knee but 1 knee joint broke. it was too freaking tight anyone has this problem also with this latest release?

@@TMReviews - I just scrolled way down and found a lineup of the Prime figures from 2012, by YTer doubble80. He doesn't show them right next to each other, but yeah, RP's cab looks a bit wide compared to OP's. And the Winnebago trailer is OBESE compared to the semi trailer.

They both look good! To be honest am not really much of Rodimus Prime fan. I think $230 is just way too much for that figure. Imo he should be more like in the $130 range. Especially when you stuff from Fanstoys and Dx9. I feel like Takara is just way overpriced. I saw some of the comments below and man!! You have it Ruff! For me I don't care about the scale It doesn't look like the movie version I want to tell you the new one they have it came out I believe in 2017 was a new rodimud prime that's what they're calling it but it's on Amazon and I've seen it in target It actually reminds me of power master optimus prime Where hot rod then becomes ride a bus prime that's how it looks that's how it starts out it's a very nice version a one problem with all of the cheap 1 action seekers is they know now all of them have high levels of lead in them so most of your early early collectors the ones that did survive they recommend that you don't really handle any more

why does MP-28 look like a downgrade to MP-09?

Just some thoughts, you got your facts mixed up and a few other things -mp09 scales with mp01 No it *does not* infact they used mp09 as the basis for scale for all proceeding mp's, mp10 lines up pretty well in bot mode with mp09, a quick google could have shown this or...you could have transformed your mp10b on hand since that's rather simple to test, the trailer is so big so rodimus can use the battle station, and remember this figure is primarily rodimus prime, not hotrod despite the attempt at having him switch between the 2 forms, also scaling with the mp line si still a difficult thing to do, look at mp10 and mp inferno, bot modes are perfect but the fire truck is comical, can't mass shift irl! -comparing the reissue with a 3p product and not with the original disappointing since they're very different products, visually the only difference with the original mp09 (that I could see from a few early bird collectors) was the back skirt in robot mode being changed to orange, in saying this if you had the reissue it may have been more informative, also you spend so much time with dx9 carry that I honestly think you might as well just stick with it -one character only collector don't get why you bought mp09 when you have no intention on transforming it at all when you have dx9 carry on hand, let alone hot rod as well so you *technically* have 3 of the same character on hand, you'd be selling at a loss as well (although that is your choice, just a personal gripe) -the channel stuff right at the start another personal gripe, while the title did mention channel related stuff that part was obscured until I clicked on it since the title is so long, and that stuff is usually best left towards the end so those who actually want to have an interest in the channel itself will stay behind since new comers like myself might just move on elsewhere (only stayed so I can see the review portion).
