I've seen Taj twice now. The 1stbtime was in Napa and I brought my guitar. My mom went and got the car after the show and I sat on the curb with my guitar. I didn't get to meet Taj, but one of his guys was nice enough to take it back to Taj for him to sign for me. I waited and it was a while me and my mom finally thought maybe the guy just set my guitar somewhere back there and forgot about it and I'd never see it again.....I was wrong! A while later he came back with my guitar signed by Taj and said 'sorry it took so long, he tuned it for you and then got to playing it...' I felt so honored! Now my guitar is named Queen Bee!

Found this song a few months ago and played it everyday for my wife Barbara Everone who was close to her called her Bee for short . It fit her perfectly and what I felt for her.She passed away suddenly 6 weeks ago and I still listen to it with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes. Thanks Taj. It's a great song to remember her by.

Thank you. I think Steven Tyler owes something to these dudes.
I ran into him as a kid (12 yo)in a coffee shop in occidental one time he was just sitting in the back quietly playing and I had a harp and was trying to play to what he was playing across the shop. He noticed and motioned me to come over and sit and play with him. One of my fondest memories from as a kid learning to plat the blues harp. He was so kind and patient.

I met Taj Mahal in Geneva, Switzerland around 1980. Incredible human being. Called his musicians to surround me shouting the names of small towns in my home country of Rwanda, Central Africa, they went to play the blues in during a tour sponsored by the American Cultural Center there. So warm, so friendly, so attached to our common African roots. One of my unforgettable encounters on planet Earth. 😊

When you grew up where I did you would do a lot of stepping aside. Never saw show a show but saw him around. As I did Boz Skaggs, Buddy Miles, Sly Stone, Eddie Money and others. Growing up here and a music lover, sometimes you got involved, sometimes your friends did. One of my best memories of Taj Mahal has nothing to do with him. I was standing outside of a club where he was playing. Street blocked off because there had been a music street fair. Here comes Bonnie Raitt walking up the street with guitar case goin to walk into the front door of the club. Somebody comes out of the club screaming NO!!! Then they lead her into the back entrance.

He plays so perfectly. It's just enough, no flashy 64th notes, only the right notes at the right times to make the groove work. And in it's rough edged sound, it is absolutely perfect. Within one bar, you can tell it's Taj Mahal without even looking at the screen. Rock me to my soul!
I saw Taj live in 94 and didn’t know who he was. Other people told me to go and to listen and set a tone of reverence and respect. 25 years later, I am amazed at what a gift that first show was. His music is more personal and more beautiful every single day. 🙏❤️✌️

only thang that could make this is hearing the cadence of the “Hos” on the street . This makes my day everytime i here it
He made my life much easier, makes me grounded. A master in telling a lot with a few words and notes.
Taj is THE coolest
About 15 years ago I got my first cel phone. At least once a week I would get calls asking for Taj. Finally I asked who this man was that was so popular with the ladies. I was informed he is a blues singer. One a day a woman that identified herself as his daughter called and was very frustrated at not being able to reach her father. She thought I may have been using him as a sugar daddy. I informed her I am a married woman in Utah and we laughed. He did frequent Park City. I had a nice conversation about his wild ways, his love for white women and his drinking too much. I will always remember that odd association I had so long ago. My wife posted this.
I used to hang with Taj a bit back in the mid '60s at The Ash Grove (in Los Angeles, Ca). He started teaching there too but was always there checking out the 'real-deal' blues artists from the deep south that we were also so lucky to be around those days thanks to The Ash Grove. (Also happy to say my late father Milt Holland played on at least one of his albums.)
Feeling god coming through Taj on a Saturday morning.... been listening to this version for years and it is my favorite.
I'm 33 and this is food to my soul! Love discovering "masterpieces" as I call them!!! Where's my queen been who likes this stuff? 😉

Taj Mahal is an American original and an absolute treasure. He may not have the notoriety of Bruce Springsteen, but he has every bit of the depth and breadth and more. I have loved his music since happening upon a dingy 8-track tape of "The Real Thing" lying on the road, at an intersection in downtown Rochester, NY in the mid seventies. That album cooks and is one of the most exhilarating live recordings I've ever heard. I've had the chance to see him many times, including performing this song in the midst of a thunderstorm in Rochester at an outdoor festival. I would have loved to be in the carriage or walking alongside during the beautiful version presented here. I've never seen anything but joy and welcome to all conveyed by this man in his music...a real ambassador to the world...
Thank you Taj Mahal, for your incredible music and for sharing.
