When I figure skated, my parents didn’t have a lot of money, so my mom would buy plain dresses and decorate them for me. She spent countless hours on them; applying lace, crystals, and beads by hand so I could look as nice as the other girls for competitions. 😭 This brought back so many beautiful memories for me. It’s a labor of love for sure, and your sister’s work is beautiful.

@@drshades1 well, I make historical clothing and then wear it to give costumed talks on different periods of history. I just started a KZread channel, so if you look up Melissa Shiels Not-so-Vicious Vikings, or Melissa Shiels Gorgeous Georgians you can see what I mean. It's pretty great! I love sewing and I love teaching kids about how different (yet often how similar) life was in the past to our modern experiences. The kids are all excited when they see me pull out swords and axes, but also equally interested to know about the various different garments people wore, what they ate, etc. It's a lot of work, but I love it.

I notice we never accept the treats you offer us at the beginning of our sessions. (Like the tea and cookie in this video 🥰) but it thought it would be such a fun, cute idea to make it seem as if we asked for a drink or a snack at a random part of the video! As if we, the viewer say "I'll have that tea now" or "could I still have a cookie?" And you pause and offer your goodies once again!! (Or if you're doing our hair and we have that black, sheet cover over us and we ask you to scratch our nose or something sweet like that!!) 🥰💕🥺🙏

@@foreverisover496 100% correct. I remember getting my feet fitted with that dohickey measuring tool as a kid and the man sitting on a stool, lacing them up for me, putting them on and tying them. Using a shoe horn to get them off. But this was the early 90s, and at a department store. Gosh I'm getting old.

@@dreyddog19 it’s called a Brannock device 😊 I work at a shoe store that’s how I know haha. Good shoe stores use them and actually help and talk to their customers one-on-one. That’s why I love watching these types of service-oriented ASMR role plays Maria makes because she’s naturally gifted at customer service. People who are people-lovers are the best at service jobs and that’s harder to come by these days it seems 😛

I remember when I was in elementary school and people would be passing out papers or I would have a sub with a really soft voice, slow cutting of scissors, or going to the librarian and listen to her read or turn pages would always make me feel so calm and comforted and make me wanna fall asleep. Maria is one of the ASMR artist that I never experienced tingle immunity with. No matter how many artists I experience it with Maria always gives me tingles. She always soothes me and puts me right to sleep. Her and Latte are perfection and I will watch until the end of time.

I've been dying to find a character to cosplay whose outfit I can hand sew a ton of beads, sequins, tiny details, embroidery, lace and make something impressive like that beautiful leotard. Because of the quarentine I couldn't go buy fabric at all this year and this video turned out so bittersweet to me, like a midway between soothing my craving and making it worse. The tingles, however, there's nothing like the sound of beads, I'm in heaven. Surely I'll come back to this video to inspire me when I get back to sewing my costumes.

For the first time in a while I hadn’t listened to/watched ASMR for a few days and I came to this video and the feeling of home was a little overwhelming. How magic that you create that Maria! It’s nearly impossible for me to ever pick a favorite video of Maria’s, but coming from someone who isn’t particularly in love with fabric sounds, this one is not only an exception, but one of the best videos out there. Instant tingles!
