Most people don't see the importance of this. It shows that dogs display the necessary higher cognitive function to understand that this should not be occurring, they must have at least some critical thinking skills in order to (as many of them do) decide to look around and see where it dropped as they deduce that this is the most likely explanation for the situation. Whent he most likely explanation is proven false, they do not know how to react.

@erik newport They aren't technically self conscious, dogs were bred to reach for human help, since they trust us, when something doesn't work. That's why they keep eye contact with people around to give them the treat. This doesn't happen with wolfs, there are videos on KZread talking about this. They have certain cognitive level, but not to the point of self consciousness like dolphins or apes. Actually, small babies have the same problem until they grow up and develop object permanence and other human cognitive abilities (are not presented at birth, some are socially learned). They can't even recognize themselves in the mirror or understand that their hands are their hands and not a random object that passes by, that they can control them. If dogs were self conscious they would understand they are an individual with own thoughts and they could think about those thoughts (metathinking), also, understanding death (the stop existing of conscience). That's why babies feel unaltered when someone in the family dies, they just don't get it.

No matter what "superior" humans think, animals are smart :) And just like humans there may be dumb dogs, but that's because of the environment they grew up with :) But all animals are smart.

yeah, humans are so grossely overated. What disguss me is that people look at all the inventions around them and take it has prof that THEY are smart, even if they didn't invent or even build any of it. Inventors are a rare thing to pop out into humanity, most of us can just modify things we already know or combine them and we cant come up with something completely new on our own. What upsets me is that 99% of humans take the merit of the 1% as their own and pretend that if 1% of humans are smart, the rest of humans are too. Heck you wouldn't even be writing or thinking with words right now if no one showed you how. You would have just a bunch of concepts and ideas popping out with no word to make them more complex. It would greatly reduce your ability to communicate and learn from others. You would just growl and bark at people walking like the hunchback of notre-dame (historically observed behaviors; search wildchild)

This says something about the intelligence of dogs, not sure what

YoukaiLaurana Similarly to how you can fake a dog out by pretending to throw a ball. The dog will realize you tricked him and will come back looking for it on you rather than assuming it magically vanished.

I love how dogs have the same reaction to magic as humans. Look at the magician, look around, look at the cameraman and then say, "this is the work of the devil," and split.

And the last dog is like: "Run for your lives, he's a witch!!"

Why would there be? its just a good intention human having fun with animals. Cruelty is called out when it has to be and even though some people are annoyed by it, there is no denying that animal cruelty is insurmountable but I have no wish to spoil the lovely moment of this video which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I've been very fortunate to find magic as a profession and a way of life. I've met tons of interesting people, I get to travel a lot, doing gigs and creating new magic is awesome. Would not change it for anything.

sälli: what is this witchcraft

There's a trick called "The Raven". It is basically a spring mechanism that you attach to objects and when you let go of the object the spring retracts and yanks the object back into his sleeve... you can see the dog bone in his sleeve hanging out of the edge sometime between 1:13 and 1:16 :)

@@HonnePerkele he was difficult dog. He had four owner before me, and I could never housebreak him. He even would poop his cage, not caring. I never understood him. He was not affectionate or seem to care about anything. Even when I was gone one month, he don't even care when I return. Just a blank face all the time. He ran away when ever off the leash. A few times he was lost for days. Finally he ran away never to return. I don't miss him he was terrible behaved dog. I look on videos and he doesn't behave like other finnish spitz, and I found later breeder has bad reputation, so I think I got inbred dog or weird dog. Wish I got a Salli.

Salli's like "The fuck is this witchcraft" and Torsti took the Nopetrain to Fuckthatville.

I love how often they look to the spectators for explanation.

Nice job staging this, complete with assistants snapping their fingers to get the dogs to turn their heads and look confused. At 0:34 we can hear your assistant snapping her fingers to make the dog turn his head. Pathetic.

This is definitely going viral. This is so adorable, I love dogs. I love how you can tell that they get frustrated and confused, it just shows how intelligent they are that they understand that it's missing, a stupid animal wouldn't comprehend that. They seem human at times. :3

Nakke & Dumle are so smart. Nakke was like 'did you see that?' really fast. They're all cute!

All animals react to the mood they feel from their surroundings. EG, Humans. When the laughter starts, the tails start to wag in greater per portion than they were before.

75% of the dogs: Oh, I must have dropped it somewhere. 25% of the dogs: WHAT WITCHCRAFT IS THIS?!

That was awesome haha I love seeing people and animals just having fun. In some parts of the world, animals get abused (but that is not to say that many animals are not abandoned in otherwise stable countries). All I want is for us to embrace reality and our humanity for everything that it is--both the good and the bad. I talk about philosophical and societal topics and issues that help us grow as people. I am going down a path that will not be reversed--growing stronger, smarter, and better with each day. I know I will die walking this path but I wouldn't have it any other way. Give me the chance, I will not let you down. That is all, no more no less. Good day to everyone:)

Can't help but laugh at those that think this is cruel. The dogs are confused but excited, not in pain. Look at their body language. Pipe down.

Really love your videos. It says a lot about dog intelligence and behaviour. I was wondering if you might have ever consider to include sigh-hounds, like Irish Woflhound, Saluki, to your magic. This particular dog breed is heavily reliant on their sights and very unpredictable in their reactions. Looking forward to your future videos with dogs!
