As a tahitian, i'm proud of this ukulele. we play that uke for parties (we called it "bringue') its a friendly party where we play local songs and enjoy it drinking an hinano (local beer)

My son bought me this beautiful instrument when he was in Fiji. I am learning ukelele. So have to learn this wonderful sounding instrument. You play so fantastically. Could listen all day. Dorothy from Scotland.

In the cook islands, ukuleles are very popular with our culture, both tahitian and hawaiian uku's. Much love to our tahitian brothaz for introducing this instrument to our culture

I'm So in love with the sound

thanks, I finally get the concept of it (been born on an island, used to listen to this music a lot but in the end I wouldn't get how it was able to produce that different of a sound compared to a standard ukulele)

When visiting Tahiti I fell in love in this instrument, in the hotel where we stayed the local pool boy started teaching me how to play, after a while there was a line of ppl wanting to follow my path and they guy became a lot more busy than he really wanted to be... Love the fast, clean and pleasant sound of this instrument.

Cool awesome Uke

I have one of these Asonu Tahitian Banjos. I love it! Still has the original fishing line strings on it. lol. I'm dreading the day I have to change strings. When I bought my Tahitian Banjo from Hawaii Music Supply, it came with some extra fishing line. When I asked what type of fishing line to buy they just said "the green one". lolz. Ok.... Just keep in mind when you buy one of these, they are strung with green fishing line, and they are all the same gauge. What type of fishing line, brand, etc...Who knows? lol.

Hello victor. I live in Scotland my son lives in San Francisco he visited Bora Bora last year bought me a beautiful Tahitian uke just like the one you are showing. I visited Chris in San Francisco and took my ukelele home to Scotland. I am 75 never played an instrument but been learning 4 string uke for a year. When I tried to tighten strings on my beautiful Tahitian ukelele (yaaaaaa) I broke two strings. Didn't tell Chris. Bought luminous fishing wire in green took it to a guitar shop in Glasgow where a professional guitarist restrung it. I had to tell my son as he was visiting Scotland. He was upset when I told him and said it wasn't fishing wire that was on it originally. Can you help. With thanks. Dorothy.

Hi Dorothy, fishing line is the standard for these ukes. It just depends what weight you want to use e.g. 20lb, 30lb etc.

Just download a chromatic tuner (ins tuner) and hit each string individual. The top two are G the next two are C the next two E and the bottom two are A. They are the same notes as a standard ukulele just a higher sound, that chromatic tuner really helped ( ins tuner on the App Store )

I Bought one exactly like that one in Santiago de Chile on my way back from rapa nui , just fell in love with that sound! A local music shop in a mall is where I found it, it was Asonu as well!
