Ballast stones, also known as track ballast, are used along railway tracks to absorb vibrations from passing trains.
Track laying is the process of installing railway tracks. This project involves upgrading the railway line between Jember and Banyuwangi by replacing the rails and their sleepers to enhance the safety, stability, comfort, and speed of the trains that run on the track.
After the ballast stones are spread along the track, the next stage involves maintenance using specialized equipment: the Plasser Ballast Regulator (PBR) and the Multi Tie Tamper (MTT). The PBR is used to level the ballast in the center and on the right and left sides of the railway track, while the MTT compacts the ballast beneath the sleepers.
