This is actually an amazing concept. Making a sports watch look semi dressy with a colored bezel and alligator strap but completely functional and durable as a true diver and a band made for sweat and water. Many people tend to use sports watches for all occasions, even dress occasions. So this really blends both worlds with pure function.

I bought a black aquaracer two years ago (41mm). The only thing I don't like about it is the short power reserve. Barely 24 hours. But apart from that the watch is fantastic. Really good looking, good presence, good materials. Last summer I considered buying an omega seamaster 300m and, side by side, the omega is marginally better looking. I understand this sound like heresy to some but to be honest I find there is much snobbery regarding watches and I don't understand the hate surrounding Tag's watches. For 1.500 euros that I paid in the used market (7 months old but in mint condition) I find it unbeatable. Thank you for your videos. Best regards

They’re overpriced for quality and they’ve been caught lying about movements. I also prefer this aesthetic over the Seamaster though

43mm Aquarracer owner here. I own luxury timepieces also, including a Submariner and I can tell you that I enjoy wearing the Aquaracer very much and find it to be a well made quality timepiece for the money. Taste, and value for the money is a personal and highly subjective thing. That said I think for the money it’s hard to beat. You can spend twice as much money and not get twice the watch, if you follow what I’m saying. My only real criticism is the watch buckle/clasp on the stainless bracelet model. With only 3 micro adjustments I find myself either wearing a watch that fits too snug on my wrist because I have to remove 1 link or a watch that fits too loos because I must leave the link in. There’s no in between. Honestly that just irritates me. The 2021 Aquaracer addresses that issue by offering much more adjustability with a new push button sliding adjuster. That is a huge improvement. As Rolex, Omega and other Swiss brands continue to increase in price, I feel that Tag will continue to gain in popularity. Lo9king at it from that perspective, the Aquarracer is a real bargain.

This is my 1st view on your channel and you earned my sub..Just picked up the Aquaracer earlier this week..I got the black face with black bezel and stainless bracelet and I absolutely love this watch! Its my 1st purchase in the luxury watch market and its even better looking in person...what I noticed in person with this watch is that each rectangular hour marker with the Lume and at the '12' position is that the 'bright' border that surrounds each hour marker is almost 'bent' for lack of a better term in half just a touch and what that does is allows at almost every angle that you look at the face to be reflectant and shines back at you to catch as much light that it can and pops with brilliance...just a great specimen on the wrist! Again great review..thanks! Ps. I got this the other day but the wife wanted it wrapped under the Christmas tree before I wore it and I was like a kid waiting in anticipation to open this last night on Christmas Eve..

Very cool TAG! It's unique and not one of those "me too" looking sports watch with a slight cosmetic change per brand. The tortoise bezel is too cool ( I like the blue) with dial and strap the same color. The watch would be even cooler with having both strap and bracelet with a quick release set up all included. With both one could strap for casual days and bracelet to dress it up as needed. A 41 would be my choice. Great video Bruce!

I’ve owned a few aqua racers , even it’s forerunner the 2000 series and I’ve got to say they are a quality time piece with great looks and real sports credentials I’m generally very impressed with tag heuer. The only negative thing I’ve got to say about this is the , Plastic spacers they use , but apart from that they are really nice . Merry Christmas 🎄

I love the look of the bezel - stunning. Too big for many but one thing i don’t understand in the community is how so few people give credit for just how nice looking many Tag Hs are. Agree re the bracelet - this one is a little pricey for what you get. PS what would people prefer to the plastic movement holder ? Maybe a heavier metal one? Realise it’s a big sticking point for many but wouldn’t bother me personally. Nice review and Happy Christmas Bruce 😀

The reason collectors are gun shy with Tag has to do with their handling of the Heuer acquisition. The stories I have heard of poorly serviced watches would make anyone run for the hills. However, those days have long passed. This might be the first watch to grab my attention. Definitely a fresh design and it did catch my eye. I wish the best for all keeping mechanical watches alive. Nice work to the folks at Tag.

Tag used to be a younger person's affordable Rolex.... my brother bought one way back when... and it was like owning the crown jewels.... just the trendiest watch to have. That Tag looks awesome. All the negative publicity Tag gets is as ridiculous as the over-hype Rolex gets in my opinion.

Amen brother! I couldn't agree with you more! I happen to be the PROUD OWNER of 6 Tag Heuer watches and 5 of them are from the Aqua Racer line. That said, they are ALL dead on accurate. I'm talking like +/- 1-2 SPD!!! Not to mention they're built like tanks. So for me personally, I think that Tag Heuer makes as good a watch if not better than any of the "Big Boys" and I do mean ANY!

I find most Rolex boring. Very few exceptions. Certainly not worth the money or hassle you have to go through to get one new. I prefer Omega. I think they make better watches and you can actually buy them and they are better priced.

Seems to be a shortage of 41mm. I’m wondering if they might be changing the dial next year or fazing out the 41mm. I don’t remember there being so many out of stock models before.

Not going to lie, I like the aquaracer. Not this particular model, but the blue is very nice. Tag was my first luxury watch, so I can appreciate the brand unlike some haters. I bought one at only $600 some years ago!

I picked one of the regular black bezel versions on the secondary market for $1,200. I think it's a really amazing watch for that price. I don't really understand why they do so poorly on the secondary market but I guess it's good for people like me who don't mind buying pre-owned stuff. I think the overall quality of mine is quite good, definitely a couple steps above a Tissot or Hamilton and of course you pay a bit extra for the TAG name.

I bought this in October and traded it last week. The watch is really good looking, but I just never bonded with it, for whatever reason. The power reserve isn't that great, which frustrated me. For example, on Dec 1st I picked it from my watch box. It had stopped so I set the time and date, wound it like 40, 50 turns, strapped it on and wore it from 5 a.m. till 4 pm while doing a bunch of walking. At 4 pm, I put it back in the box. The next day, at 4 pm, I picked it up and it had stopped at 1:15. Since this wasn't the first time it seemed to have stopped far earlier than it should have, I took it to my AD who was going to send it to TAG to check out, but he wound it and let it set without wearing it, and it went for 44 hours. He did it twice. SO, I mean, take that for what it's worth. It's the only watch I have that I've had issues with in this regard. Also, for my 7.25 wrist, it felt big and clunky. It's a 43mm which apparently pushed my level of comfort. I think I have to stay between 38-42mm and no farther than 50 lug to lug. It is really good looking and I like TAG as a brand, but this one just didn't work FOR ME and I traded it without regret.

Thanks for another informative review. Good point about the prices. Compare this watch with the Sinn U50. Same price but the Sinn is by far the better spec watch. This is why Tag is criticized and it affects its reputation imo. It is like a retail price of $1000 for an Invicta that you can buy for $100. I don't know why it does this. Even though it is a good watch as a consumer it puts me off. Maybe people don't care and Tag still sells plenty of watches at full retail for a high profit margin?

If only they offered the tortoise bezel in 41mm as well

Thx for sharing. What’s your opinion on the caliber 5 with (this watch) vs. the caliber 7 Pepsi Aquaracer. I did notice the movement is different and this one doesn’t have ceramic bezel it’s aluminum which I believe scratches easier.

Just watched the video about seiko baby MM 200, and feeling left with wanting more. Looking for alternatives, tag may be it.

I LOVE my aqua racer. One of my favorites in my collection. I have two of them and they have been through everything imaginable. I just do not understand the hate for Tag watches. Mine have been a pleasure to own.

It’s only the narrow minded watch snob that paints an entire watch brand with a broad stroke. TAG had their bad years, bad watches as did Breitling. Their recent offerings however, including the Aquaracer are fanatic... unless your a brand snob.

Great job! A subjective question: I just bought this precise watch and my doubt is if you think it would look good or better with a steel bracelet of the brand. I always prefer bracelets on my watches and my wife says that it would 'take the fun out' of this model if I change it. Thank you and congratulations!

I need a lumed version of that bezel insert for my SKX.

As soon as that caseback came off, it proved exactly why tag heuer has the reputation it does in the ‘luxury watch’ segment.

Cartier uses plastic spacers as well. I'm guessing you hold them in the same regard as TAG then. Because if not then you are just a sheep following the TAG hating crowd.

Hei Bruce, could You please check/tell if the lume pip is perfectly aligned with the 12 marker? many of my friends and also people who own the Aquaracer in 43"mm the lume pip is not perfectly aligned/centered with the 12marker. Have you noticed this problem on the tags you own/reviewed? What is Your opinion about this?

I've got a Tag Aquaracer. Rated to ,roughly 1000 ft. Cost me $2500 new. It failed at 5ft,while scraping the bottom of my sailboat. I now own an Omega 300 diver. Still have the Tag,but haven't worn it in a year. It's the blue dial/bezel, don't recall the model number. Resale price around $500,Cost $450 to fix it. Pretty,but if you're looking for a dive watch, may wanna look for something else. The bezel is a pain in the butt to turn. I've also got a Seiko Turtle 6309-7049, I've owned since 1984. It's my go to dive watch. Just saying....Capt.Bob, SV 27th Chance, Tampa Fl

This watch is actually really cool,trendy,modern and well designed....does not brake any rules pertaining to dive watches i love the fact the strap is rubber but looks like alligator...looks classy and modern but does not break any dive watch rules

I think the aquaracer is a good looking watch. It comes in 41mm and 43mm sizes which is good for everybody. Most watches in the 2 to 3k price range will lose up to 50% in their value , so it's generally better to buy nearly new if your the kind of person who gets bored with your watches. That's most of us then , lol

I love this watch but i am concerning about the rubber trap, because have the Chronograph from Tag Heuer that has the rubber trap, it's so hard when i wear the watch doesn't stay flat. Would you please tell me about the rubber on this watch. Is the rubber trap hard or soft? Base on this video i can see this rubber is not hard compare to my watch. Thanks again. I'm thinking you guys are a bit tough on Tag. I do understand a few models have been overpriced and most people feel their marketing campaign is much better than their wrist watches. From personal experience and I own two, an older 6000 series from the late 90's and a newer 41 mm Aquaracer with the white dial and stainless bezel. Both watches are of excellent build quality, have decent lume, keep great time and I have never had a poor Tag Heuer service experience from 1998 to present. I also get compliments every time time I wear either watch. White dials seem hot right now for some reason. I know Random Rob loves them! I digress. Tag Heuer manufactures a nice timepiece at a really reasonable price. I purchased my Aquaracer from an AD in L.A. and the discount was deep. It retailed for $2,200 and I paid $1,498 with free shipping to PA. This is certainly not the most expensive piece in my collection, but the craftsmanship is better in several ways. Just my two cents...

Longines and TAG is where value is nowadays

I got really excited by the idea of getting the Aquaracer X Bamford watch. That version realigned my view of the Aquaracer, and now I see a bit of coolness that I never appreciated before. It is funny how that happens. --Michael

The plastic is part of what makes this watch waterproof to 300 meters, with the o-rings and screw down crown. If you don’t want plastic inside your watch, don’t buy a diver’s watch.

If my sub $150 Orient Ray 2 can come with a metal movement spacer then there is absolutely no reason a watch at this price point can't.

It’s a pity they cut corners on the build I’m selling mine to get the Oris Aquis much better diver

I think for many years they offered terrible quality to price. Today, the Aquaracer can be had for 40% off MSRP or half the price of a Seamaster. Solid Swiss watch at that price .
