Does the "under the top player" mean defenders or which ones are the lowest defenders in this case?

if your top (we always called him "tip" or "peak") is on the right, meaning he is basically your right wing forward, the "under the top" player is your left wing forward. Vise versa if your top player is on the left, your under the top player is your right forward. The point of the W formation is to stand more or less in a "zig-zag" pattern, where if you draw a line between your players, you get a W shape. Not sure why they called it 2:1:2 here, W is more of a 1:1:1:1:1 formation, or a 2:1:1:1 (with your two defenders standing next to each other, on the same level)

not really, its just a W formation, 2:2:1 is a simplified version of that, where you dont really push the opponent on either side.

So you are saying defensive but are always showing the Swiss team playing both offensive and defensive? I see what you are trying to show and I agree with some that in some ways this could be called a 2:2:1 since in none of the times is more than one guy pushing. But I agree with you, I would probably call this 2:1:2 too. Bcz especially in the first seq with Sweden you can clearly see difference between the C and the F how they are acting.
