Just to add on. SM does buy their stuff from overseas composers. Like this song is particular was composed by a team of foreigners (cant assume they are American) However lyrics are written by Jonghyun. And OP meant you dont hear lyrics like this in America, obviously you do hear this genre and style in America.

@林义仁;BLINK4LIFE but it's not as easily as u said that they buy from American artists. The company talks with the composers/producers and work with them on what they want and those producers/composers are given creative freedom. Some producers have appreciated kpop for giving them that freedom. You can watch interviews with some of the producers in ReacttotheK where they have shared their experience on working for kpop.

As a male kpop fan this is really the kind of music I need. Male artist's empowerment songs speak generally to everyone, and female empowerment songs speak to females. As a guy with terrible self confidence and self worth issues, I have yet to find a song besides this that tells me to be proud of who I am as a man, not in a toxic-masculine way, but just in the way that I am a human with feelings.

One of the things that attracted me to my husband was his androgynous nature...that means that he has many strong "feminine" characteristics as well as his masculine characteristics. Not everyone wants a manly man. Be yourself, just yourself. You are perfect just as you are, and you are valuable just because. NEVER give anyone else the power to define you or tell you if you are lovable. You cannot control others. You CAN control your response to them. Anyone who wants to give you sh** isn't worth your time and energy. And know that there's some stranger (me) in the USA who thinks you will come out just fine. Peace.

How much i freaking appreciate men for being comfortable on their own skin. Men always give into peer pressure, they want acceptance from other guys and don't want to be made fun of for being different. Most of them just judge others with their whole life, they don't realize it's one of the biggest reasons for men being depressed. Park jimin is my ult bias in kpop and i just love his style so much. Those are my standards of real men, the ones who can be comfortable with themselves

I don't know if it's so common to refer to him a “the pretty boy “ but the most people I talk to about him or kpop in general are VIPs like me and get it cuz they know the song. Not going to lie. Taemin was always my least fav out of the members of SHINee. I didn't dislike him, just preferred the other members, but over the last year or so I have really come to appreciate him as a singer. He works very hard and everything he does is quality. It has been nice seeing him evolve over the years and to stand on his own as a solo Artist. I feel like this song really helps show the stuff he had to deal with, especially when SHINee was still new.
