Taekwondo can't wait to study get soon and learn these type of takedowns and techniques you guys have an interesting class I wish I could had stayed in my karate class and maybe things would have turned out alright I really wish I could go back to my original Karate class but learning taekwondo is okay too 🥋✌️😉👍🥋

Hapkido is also a korean art. Hapkido can look a lot like taekwondo to the untrained eye, but it focuses a lot more on joint locks and take downs than TKD. Hapkido is one of the most effective martial arts besides BJJ, Krav Maga, and Kali.

Most of the older karate systems included takedowns. Not sure why they went away.

@@jameslyons6655 they take downs went away because instructors focused on sports and medals thus the new generation never learned them. Plus old school karate/ Taekwondo would teach you how to do it and not counter it unlike grappling arts

Yes Tkd has takedowns. But the Olympics watered it down which is why most tkd schools don’t show all the real techniques.

yousef, that's WTF (the olympic rules). In ITF TKD we are absolutely allowed to strike the head in sparring. Of course you don't spar full power; sparring is for refining your technique. You use full power in real life self defense situations. :)
