As a Ukrainian, of course, I love to see such solid Зінченко play, but indeed what a pleasure to watch Saka, Odegaard and Partey, how sharp Nketiah is, how Djaka evolved, and how the team pulses together. As a CEO I admire Arteta's energy, vision and passion. I really really hope they will overcome that money machine with massive blondy.

No. Arsenal were playing amazing all season and zinchenko was out injured for a lot of that. He is great and brings another dynamic to the team but the team can play just fine without him. Tierney is very solid as well in a different way. Calling him most important player is going a bit overboard I think. For me that would have to be partey or odegaard. They are the 2 least replaceable in the squad, although eith Emile smith rowe back he could cover for odegard so maybe it's just partey who is the most important.

First of all, big compliments to your great analysis. Very well done. I think you really got the keys that allowed Arsenal to gain a tactical advantage and Ødegaard's movements to drag around McTominay, allowing Saka to cut inside and forcing Eriksen to double up on him. Sometimes successfully, sometimes a tad too late. Zinchenko was another key. I'd say that Ten Hag's done a great job so far, transforming Utd in something very similar to a real squad. But Arsenal was the better team and Arteta's big work must be applauded. Well done to you👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I like the versatility of our forwards and goal scoring forms...today Saka will perform and score and defenders will want to mark him out next week, then next week, it's odegard's turn, then Nketiah's and then Martineli's...and when you think you have figured them all out, the midfielders and defenders pop up! So Beautiful ❤️

Outstanding analysis. To add, a number of things fell into place for Arsenal because their players are so well coached and highly intelligent. Nketiah demonstrated brilliant poacher's intelligence for his two goals. A lesser striker would have been caught offside. Zinchenko was outstanding. Saka was thinking literally out of the box. 😄. Ten Hag is also one that idolises Cruyff and i’m sure when he gets Utd playing the way he envisions we’ll see all three teams with similar play styles but that’s due largely to Cruyff, not just Pep.

Could see EtH's defensive plan was to close up the midfield like he did against city, which did have an impact as key players like Odegaard were kept fairly quiet, but the threats from the wide spaces killed us off today. Leaving Fred out was a mistake for me, McTominay was dragged about way too much and needed more cover which Fred could've provided. Not all negative though, Utd went toe to toe with Arsenal and with better players on the pitch we might have had a better night, just hope EtH is backed in the next couple windows!

Ramsdale, Zin 10/10, Eddie 10, Bukayo 10 Thomas : 7/10 , all rest 9. Thomas' stray passing gave Rashford the opportunity to score. And at fault for nearly another. I do like him but his passing precision and accuracy must improve soon if we are to lift the biggest trophies. Defends and intercepts well.

One manager has been there for 3 years and another for 6 months. That alone says a lot and the fact that united won at home and thid match gave arsenal a fight and took them till 90 min while not being at their best is impressive. Arsenal did deserve to win and full credit to them. Some united fans will always overreact and will always be proved wrong just like they have this season about most players.

Both managers did not find the teams at the same level. Arteta found Arsenal languishing in 12th while ETH inherited a team that was 6th and had finished 2nd just a season before that. Some of these comparisons are too simplistic. Arteta had to basically shift the whole team (bar Xhaka and a few other fringe players) while ETH inherited a good team and only added some players to it. Man Utd is mostly being carried by players that were not signed by ETH. On the contrary, ETH's signings such as Weghorst and Antony havent been great (Martinez is a good signing and Malacias is a mixed bag).

Arsenal relies more on pressing traps than normal man/zonal marking, that may give them an edge to maintain the attacking pressure. Still not the best in the world if we compare Arsenal to many big teams, but very impressive for such a small team. Arsenal now has both achieved both rhythm and consistence. Huge credit to Arteta, he was really the very few coaches that both players and the club high table trusts and cover his back with every move. Those are just basic concepts. Some use zonal or a man to man press or a bit of both. I’m talking mainly about the intensity of their press. Only Newcastle have a higher PPDA (measure of pressing intensity) than them this season. And their rest defence if that press is beaten is superb as well

The statement Arsenal dominated sounds as though you didn't watch the match. That only happened in the last 15mins the game was 50/50 before then and that was the tactic made united loose. You simply cant defend against arsenal especially with your best defensive player unavailable. ETH for the fact this is his first season did well we can only wonder what his 3rd season will be. For a team that has no significant signings and also playing 4games in 12days it is acceptable.

that's not pure man-marking, that's Bayern's iconic zonal/man defense developed to counter Barca's biggest strengths: the midfield, but this one was more active than Mourinho's low-block technique. They went 1v1 marking and cover shadow every passing angle to the center and half-spaces. Wanna see it in perfection? You can watch the match Arsenal vs Newcastle 0-0 this season to see the perfection of that defensive dynamics. This is also a dream game every coach wishes to train his players.

@@tantanhazukinegishiaiitoumikum in case you want to know more, Newcastle's defense can be considered as the model for any team facing a possession-based but the midfield handles a lot more work like Man City, Arsenal and also Barcelona. It usually comes with these key features: 1. A back 4 defense line. 2. Defensive shape kept super tight both vertically and horizontally. 3. Many lines of defense. Most team face these 3 teams defend with a back 4, usually a 4-4-2, but they favor a diamond shape or a 4-5-1 with two 4-men lines and 1 sweeper between them. 3. Never do deep, passive block and abandon zone 14 like Tottenham, I don't think I should explain to you, you should carefully watch both matches between Tottenham and Arsenal. Nearly all Arsenal goals came from long shots made at Zone 14.
