Taco is a blast to watch. This never gets old.

He's got a one-of-a-kind voice. So many singers sound alike, but no one sounds like Taco!

I love that after all this time Taco is still able to get up there and dance.

It was recorded as an unpublished song on August 24, 1927 and again on July 27, 1928. It was introduced by Harry Richman and choir in the musical film Puttin On the Ritz (1930). According to Irving Berlin's Complete Lyrics, it was the first song in the film to be sung by an interracial ensemble. The title derives from the slang expression "put on the Ritz", meaning to dress very fashionable. This expression was itself inspired by the opulent Ritz Hotel in London. The successful phonographic recordings of the melody in its period of original popularity from 1929 to 1930 were recorded by Harry Richman and Fred Astaire, with whom the song is particularly associated. All the other record companies had their own take on this popular song (Columbia, Brunswick, Victor and all the dime store labels). I love Taco's songs and I think it's completely okay to be a bad live performer, but I think that musicians shouldn't perform live at all if they're only using playback for their shows. I would rather see a "bad" live performance (or none at all) than a FAKE one.
