Tacloban officially the City of Tacloban (Waray: Syudad han Tacloban; Tagalog: Lungsod ng Tacloban), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. The city is autonomous from the province of Leyte, although it serves as its provincial capital. According to the 2020 census, Tacloban has a population of 251,881, making it the most populous city in the Eastern Visayas. The city is located 360 miles (580 km) southeast from Manila.
Tacloban City was briefly the capital of the Philippines under the Commonwealth Government, from 20 October 1944 to 27 February 1945. In an extensive survey conducted by the Asian Institute of Management Policy Center and released in July 2010, Tacloban City ranks as the fifth most competitive city in the Philippines, and second in the emerging cities category.On 8 November 2013, the city was largely destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan, having previously suffered similar destruction and loss of life in 1897 and 1912. On 17 January 2015, Pope Francis visited Tacloban during his Papal Visit to the Philippines and held a mass at Barangay San Jose, and later he led mass of 30,000 people in front of the airport.
Bacolod, officially the City of Bacolod is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the region of Western Visayas, Philippines. It is the capital of the province of Negros Occidental, where it is geographically situated but governed administratively independent.
With a total of 600,783 inhabitants as of the 2020 census, it is the most populous city in Western Visayas and the second most populous city in the entire Visayas after Cebu City. [6] It is the center of the Bacolod metropolitan area, which also includes the cities of Silay and Talisay with a total population of 791,019 inhabitants, along with a total area of 578.65 km2 (223.42 sq mi).
It is notable for its MassKara Festival held during the third week of October and is known for being a relatively friendly city, as it bears the nickname "The City of Smiles". The city is also famous for its local delicacies piaya and chicken inasal.

im iliganon for long, and i am waray born from samar. i had lived in bacolod sometimes on 2001 and went back in 2021.. Bacolod is better, well planned and almost no dead-end roads. Tacloban has many univerisities and plazas and park. so beautiful. but my heart both like Tacloban and Bacolod. but i love more Iligan city. Tacloban has huge potential to become super city. it is wide land and many access road. i find Bacolod as better than iloilo without megaworld. Bacolod is nice place.

World class Metro Bacolod inspite nga hindi siya regional center sumasabay sa cdo cebu gensan zamboanga iloilo davao baguio naga legazpi Butuan the only Highly urbanized city na sumasabay at nakaungos sa mga regional centers!

It could be differenciated thru the birds eyes the greenery is apparent and embodied from the city of Bacolod for it will always carry the ambiance of a green environment and city life style thru good urban planning; edit: the creation and the approval of Bacolod city economic zone and the anticipated buildup of the city hosp will add more to distinction to the dynamic and development being pursue by the people within the area to become a metropolitan city

Hindi naman updated yung video nyo for Bacolod,only in west at north portion lng ng Bacolod ang nasa video nyo. Yung south at east wala, lalo na yung bagong dinidevelop ng megaworld na upper east business center.
Gee,sampung buwan na kalipas, this blog came back, well , I can attest Bacolod city’s skyline has change, I see in my eyes progress made the city one notched higher from other HUC, Rockwell Power plant mall will start shoveling, I’m afraid traffic will be a burden if they don’t develop the other alternative routes of the Main Street, with good road network the volume is still manageable, start developing SM Santa Fe, the museum/MassKara gym , city hospital from the outer areas, good luck to the city planners

Greatly Agree. Walang planong CBD - central business district. Even Ormoc City has more progress now than Tacloban. Im was born in Cebu, raised in Ormoc and trained in Bacolod
So many land in tacloban is not yet develop. Tacloban has more room for future growth.

Bacolod also has more room for further growth, despite being a highly urbanized city with a large metro area, it still has a lot of untouched lands in Mansiligan and Cabug area.

Agree. Even Ormoc City is Richer and more progressive than Tacloban. Mas storm surge prone kasi sila than Ormoc and Bacolod.
Malayo pa magkaroon ng High rise sa Tacloban.. High rise to skyscrapers buildings will only happen if Tacloban will have its own Central Business. But Central businesses will also only happen if Tacloban City will improve its quality for livelihood, infrastructure and business friendly environment. Hoping for a big investor gud na mag butang ha Tacloban. In Cities in the US, like Detroit Michigan in the 50's and 60's, an na buhi han economy nira mismo an Car Manufacturing, GMC in particular. Big players in Washington State or Seattle is Boeing, Amazon, Facebook, Google, The North Face, etc. thus na hitaas liwat an cost of living and of course, livelihood. We have Bohol and ira Tourism, an Cebu may TIMEX manufacturing nira, BPO's, tourism, etc. Boracay and Palawan is Tourism. Tacloban ano man it aton so far?

Speaking of progress, yes Bacolod wins. But in terms of beauty, scenery & picturesque views, Tacloban stands out! Mas maganda po ang Tacloban, not to mention the city's top tourist spots like the iconic san juanico bridge.

Hindi updated c bacolod atsaka 10months ago pa pala ito. Ngayon mas marami pang sky scrapers meron nang smile residences ni sm daming tower nun. At megaworld dami ring tower dun. Sa video na yan d na sakop. Hehe sa tacloban naman porgressive din. Masikip sya. kaso more on modern buildings nmn c bacolod at greeny kasi good urban planning

True, I think Bacolod should now attract mga bpo community, property developer has stamp Bacolod city as their signatures expansion outside metro manila, negros is also good for logistic and supply chain sa Visayas region,, good roads and ports accessible sa Panay and Cebu, ang southern back door ang problema going sa Mindanao port of dapitan kaunti mga commerce activities .Kaya NIR will be a big boost sa Dumaguete.Seen a spikes of goods transport traveling back and forth between Panay, Negros, Cebu, Tacloban, sumisikip na ang ro/ ro transportation sa region,keep attracting works this time with emphasis on green environment and supply chain will do the trick

Ang layo ng hometown ng tatay ko (Metro Bacolod) kaysa Tacloban. Even Ormoc city has MegaCity 300ha property a joint venture. Marami din mga subdivisions eyeing for Ormoc City than Tacloban. By the way Hometowns ko ang Metro Cebu, Metro Bacolod and Metro Ormoc.

Strongly agree. Same goes to Ormoc. Ormoc Megacity township has broke ground. Many big time investors are also coming to the city Im raised. Like the City where I was Born - Metro Cebu. Napag iwanan na talaga ang Tacloban kasi storm surge prone at masikip ang area compared to Ormoc. Ormoc and Bacolod are similar in assets as per COA. Tacloban is malayo compared sa 2. Ormoc is just getting started. Hometown din ng tatay ko ang Bacolod. Great work LGUs in Iloilo, Bacolod, Metro Cebu and Ormoc

Panung naging mas matao eh despite na mas malawak ang land area ng Tacloban (201 sq.km.) kesa Bacolod (162 sq.km.).. may 242,000 population lang ito..di nga nangalahati sa 617,000 na population ng Bacolod.

@@KuyaDingsTV I think yung tinutukoy ni op ay yung open space pa sa may unahan ng isang hill yung sa Maharlika highway na side which is still part of Tacloban City since yung nasa video naka focus lang sa downtown area ng Tacloban.
Bacolod vs. Tacloban ? wala pong match ang tacloban sa Bacolod lau po ng comparison. I hope you compared Tacloban to non highrise Urban cities like Gensan,Lucena,zamboanga ,etc.

Pano gumanda ang Tacloban eh siksikan sa kurampot n lugar ang mga structures...while sa bacolod despite the high population..makikita mung green n green p rin at maluwang mga kalsada..hindi uso ang dead ends ...very accessible ang mga destinations..Highly urbanized city yet may countryside vibes....minutes away from the city center mkaka punta kpa sa Highland part ng bcolod para magpalamig at matanaw ang city

Iloilo mo nga nilampaso lng ng bacolod hahaha.palubog n iloilo mo.laos na.Real estate developers nyo last year 18 pa.ngayon 6 nlng.sila SMDC, Megaworld,Ayala, double dragon,Cebu Landmasters at Sta lucia nlng hahaha.while Bacolod from 3 ngayon 27 na and counting hahaha.sino b mag iinvest ng real estate sa maliit n city na anliit n nga puno p ng squatters at fishponds hahaha.
Tacloban is bigger than Bacolod area-wise
