I received my nighthawk 2 today and the first thing i did was open it up to see how the machining was inside and to grease the spring. The machining inside is flawless and super tight tolerances. The slide mechanism inside is so tightly fitted to the handle that it has to be pressed into place with your fingers and its machined flawlessly too. The blade is so tightly fitted to the handle that you feel resistance sliding it in and out by hand. You can't see the blade play its so minor but you can feel it slightly. This is a 2 spring design. The only parts that dont look machined are the blade hooks, they have a matte texture but look like quality materials. The actuator switch is perfectly fitted to the handle, i mean 0 play in it. My only complaint about this knife are the screws set slightly above the surface, you can feel them when sliding your finger nail over them, i wish they offered different colored actuator switch and clip so i could have the all black look, an anodized switch would have been an awesome look. I wish they put some slight contours on the handle so it felt more comfortable but honestly i think they were going for as compact and low profile as possible and i wish there was some sort of texture on the back to increase grip when hands are wet or greasy. Other than that i would say this is nearly perfect. So far it hasn't failed with non stop fidgeting with it today. Squirted some wd40 in it to smooth out the break in and im a happy customer. Very strong action by the way. I will probably add grip tape to the scales to increase traction and that will also solve the problem of the screws setting slightly above the surface. I will definitely buy another with the tanto for work as i use my knives daily at work. Blade is very sharp for a dlc coated dagger blade. Just buy it

I've got the Nighthawk just like yours and it's an excellent quality knife, there are several companies offering these good quality more reasonably priced otf's and they are basically all the same with different name branding, CobraTec knives are basically identical and come with a lifetime warranty and for what they cost I think the much higher priced brand name otf's are a ripoff.

Chinese junk. I sent one back. Cheap describes them. Super thin pocket clip too. Even their premium knives are made in China.
