I've been an avid user of cable ties for 15 years in my diving. Looks like it's time for a chance. Excellent concise vid. Keep up the good work.

Just found this one. Used tackling extensively while commercial fishing back in the 1980’s. Thanks for expanding my thoughts on this, especially in terms of mouthpiece retention. I’ll use my braided fishing line for sure, and see how it works to keep my necklace and mouthpiece in place!

Very good ideas you have. I've throwed a lot of zip strapes to garbage. Thanks for those videos!

Great idea, I now use this on a double ender as my tag on a drifting deco station to identify me. Very neat.

“How to burn a rebreather” 😆 I hate tie straps. They’ve made so much trouble for me in my aviation career from chewing through hydraulic lines and wires to sticking the $h!t out of me when the last guy didn’t trim the tail off flush. I don’t want em in my gear. Got any more detailed info on the fishing line method?

I use this on all second stage mouthpieces. I observed that after first dip in a little warm water the tie gets even stronger.

Thanks for the video, I used your videos to tie all my bolt snaps to my torches, camera and marked my SMB snap. What would you recommend people do to mark other kit like SMBs, masks, wetsuits etc? I know you should be able to look and tell if it's yours but you never know...

Just wondering if a constrictor knot would be a better option on the mouth piece, could be slightly easier to tie

Speargun rubber clench knot works for mouth piece as well.

Thanks for your videos - very informative. Btw, could you use fishing line instead of string for these tackels and to tie boltsnaps (since that can also be easily cut if needed and also has good load bearing security)? Or is that a stupid idea?

Hi, well of course you can but fishing line is a bit "stubborn" and pretty slippery compared to caveline and that is why I would not use it for any application where you need to be able to grap it. For simple marking purpose you could use it of course.

Hi Claude, yes in the first place it is a marking (and a nice object to show the knot :-) In fact it also enhanced he grip on the snap a bit but that I figured by unsing it myself and it was not the primary intention
