Bought a new Alamo Show saddle a while back... Not terribly expensive as I think it was an older model the shop was trying to get rid of... Came with a Headstall and reins tooled in the same pattern as the saddle... But the headstall and reins had those Zoro Post And Screw connectors.. Ugly... Your second method made all the difference in the world on the look... And probably a hell of a lot more secure than the Post and Screw... THANKS for the demo!

What weight of leather is good for the strings?

Good question! We start with 6 oz saddle string leather and split it down until it feels right. We don't have a specific weight, and any number we put to it will be a total guess.

You might of mentioned you need to attach it to the bit. Before tying any of these knots. Unless they just want to practice.
