Spent the last few days visiting the beaches and D-Day commemorations. Hundreds of Jeeps, lots of other vehicles of all nations. Even a King Tiger II running.

I would recommend before turn 1, place x amount of markers on the beach and roll for drift. These become craters. The navy intentionally did that for the infantry. Plus maybe a couple of tank obstacles. Something to give the assaults cover. Don't want to pack the beach for a game but don't want to give the Germans bowling alleys either.

Down to the last turn decision. Like these matches. There was some tapping in the audio with the rhythm of Morse code that had me trying to decipher it.

Good game. I'm thinking that the man carrying the panzer Faust was killed, but it was likely it was still intact, and another man could have picked it. A home rule perhaps?

17:10 Quick question about the howitzer blast area. If it's a 2" template, and you stick that temnplate on the figures that can't be more than 1" apart, it looks a bit like you'd get 4 of them. When the second rank is arranged a half-step over so they're aligned with the gap between the front rank, you'd probably just get 3. What am I missing?

Hey glad i stumbled on your channel. Now ive never played a table top miniatures war game before. Closest thing ive gotten to that is a digital game called panzer corps. But as far as real life stuff not one time. But ive always liked them. specifically historical ones and since last year bolt action has really caught my interest. I just got back to working a week ago and id love to find a historical miniatures game to get into. But only problem is i have no local friends. all my friends are people i play video games with online and the few people i know at this point in my life in person dont like board games or table tops. which sucks because im a huge fan of both despite the fact ive never actually played a true table top game. Was curious if maybe you had any advice for someone wanting to get into table tops like this when it comes to finding others to play with. The city i live in there doesnt seem to be a whole lot of people who like table top games let alone board games as all our big box stores have small selections of board games and the only board game store near me is 2 cities over with a games workshop being a whole 2 hours away from me. My area just seems to be void of people who enjoy these kinds of games let alone board games, at least on the surface. Guess for the tl:dr i was curious if you had any advice on how one would go about finding a table top group to play with in areas table top gaming doesnt seem as popular? It would just feel odd to go looking on something like facebook for any local groups especially seeing a lot of facebook groups now are just scam pages any way. Then comes the question if i found a group would i even get invited. especially since it seems historical miniature wargames tend to be more enjoyed by people in their 40's and up where im a bit younger in my 30's. Any way, thanks for making these videos. I love watching battle report videos on bolt action even though i have no idea whats going on and specifically have enjoyed watching your content for many various reasons in the last day or two ive watched. Apologies for the long winded comment. Keep up the great work :D

That’s tough man. The only thing you can do is try to convert some people to gamers. The best way is have some nicely painted minis and terrain, enough for two players and put on some demo games. Try to find people who may have even a little interest in games and history, they are usually the type who would be down to play even if they don’t know it yet. Having a good presentation is importantly to catching people’s attention though.

Solo wargaming is also an option. Not quite as fun IMO as playing against another person but it's an alternative that can still be entertaining. You'll find a search online for solo rules/mods will yield quite a few options.

Where do you live? I find it hard to believe there are no hobby stores that don't cater to wargamers where you live.

I'm pretty new to bolt action so I have a few questions. First off is there a particular reason why some units have raised bases or is it just to identify Ncos & officers and secondly are they custom made pin markers ? I like how the pin markers work in game however I absolutely hate how tacky they look in the base game

  • @tabletopcp

The base rings identify leaders usually. Sometimes can be used for specific weapons. The pin markers I use are MDF dials I got from Charlie Foxtrot but they are available lots of places. Just add some grass or whatever to match your terrain.

Not a "good game", it was a great game! Was there a house rule to prevent the Sherman from running over the bluff and get out of LOS from the Pak42? I always use mouse mats, but I'm tempted to get a cloth mat for this scenario.

No there was nothing stopping the Sherman the pak activated first is all.

Not sure what that is. May have to do with the AC vent. Still learning all the nuances to the new nerd cave. I am very aware of it and will figure it out
