Tabla solo - Gat chakradaar
Thanks everyone for your good wishes and blessings in response to the Nazmnuma composition that I had shared here a few days ago (www.facebook.c.... Many of you also generously shared the post and I am thankful to you for that. I am taking this opportunity to share a chakradaar that I composed sometime ago. Conventionally, chakradaars and tukdas require tremendous virtuosity to execute the intricate phrasing and rhythmic interplay. I have moved away from the virtuosic quality and have tried to focus on lyrical content that provides a swing to the composition. Could it be called a gat chakradaar because it explores meter just as it is done in a gat? I would think so, but there could be differing opinions about nomenclature in such cases. Here is a link to the composition recorded at a festival called Astitva held under the aegis of Kalanidhi, Pune.
