Taber type abrasion tester is also referred as Taber abraser or Taber abrader, which is mainly used to determine the resistance of leathers, fabrics, textiles, ceramics, plastics, glass, paper etc to abrasion. Taber abrasion tester plays an important role in evaluating the durability of the materials and products.
Taber abrader works by electricity, featuring a rotary platform and double abrasion wheels. A test piece is mounted to the round turnplate with rotation function under the specified speed and pressure. 2 abrasive wheels attached to the free end of pivoted arms rotate freely resting on the specimen. one abrading wheel grinds the test piece inward towards the center, and the other one revolves outward towards the periphery. Resistance to wear is assessed by the average rate of loss in mass/volume of specimen or number of cycles to end-point.
