Tabanas Fly Parachute Sedge -Troutlore Fly Tying #tieyourown

Спорт

The Tabanas is a large horsefly, similar to our marchflies, and just as large in size. So, the Tabanas fly patterns actually works in imitating large moth and caddis flies as well.
This week's video is the Tabanas fly pattern which is a parachute style sedge or caddis. A request from one of our viewers, it was fun to revisit this pattern after not tying one for a few years, and as such, bringing a little bit of Australiana to it. The result: my Tabanas fly is a great imitation for the Bogong moths that big brown trout go wild for in Australia. But it will work well in a range of caddis and hopper situations too. All the materials required for this pattern and so many more can be found in the Troutlore Fly Tying Store at : www.troutlore.com.au

Thanks DHJ! The hackle pliers trick actually works when you tilt you Regal jaws down an extra 5 degrees, unlike the position I was working within the video where they kept slipping backwards

Hey mate, great tying vid. The tab always kills it especially up in the blue mountains where I am. Just wondering with the bright wing what u think about using it in flies like the royal Wolff?

If you're meaning to use the Bright Wing as a replacement for calf body hair on the Royal Wulff, then yes, it works very well. It's not quite the same result as using calf, but is a lot easier to work with given the reduced mass and additional length of the fibres. 👌

That possum underwing would be great given CDC is difficult to get floating again after a hook up...

CDC makes it a one fish fly. The possum goes a little longer indeed 👍

Troutlore I fish the F Fly a bit too and it gets slimed really easily... great fish taker but spend a lot of time changing flies.
