The tale about a boy, Ishaan Awasthi, with dyslexia who gets labeled as lazy and mischievous by the adults who raise and educate him mainly because they don’t know he’s dyslexic.
And then we meet Ram Shankar Nikumbh, the art teacher who specializes in guiding kids like Ishaan. He connects with the boy with his caring heart, led by an authentic joy seeking to help Ishaan cope with his learning disability.
SPOILER REVIEW AHEAD! ( You can see Taare Zameen Par on Netflix)
In Part 1 of Taare Zameen Par we see life through Ishaan’s eyes and it’s torment feeling everything he goes through trying to navigate life with this condition no one seems to understand.
Aamir Khan directs and stars in what already proves to be a cinematic masterpiece with a message to uplift the spirit AFTER it breaks our heart with the truth of how some children with disabilities get overlooked.
By the time this first part ends, we stay with Ishaan in the boarding school and feel lonely and abandoned with him. His artistic genius and lively spirit diminished by this awful circumstance.
As we look to Part 2, we wonder, when will Ishaan’s lonely existence get interrupted by someone who sees him. And so enter, Mr. Nikumbh, the first adult who sees Ishaan, because he sees himself, in the little boy. We find out he too, had to overcome life with dyslexia.
What a powerful way to begin this film series of Taare Zameen Par. The music and direction truly add elements of cinema that make this emotionally difficult tale bare-able.
What are your thoughts on this movie? What part broke your heart or uplifted it? Share your favorite Aamir Khan movies. And also what other films has Darsheel Safary worked in that you recommend?

The thing is this movie came in 2007 where the people didn't know that mental health issues or some type of disability Exists ! . So the characters of an average Indian father and mother are shown here perfectly.

This is my go to movie every time I feel low in my life. Reason? I don't know. While everyone acted so well in this movie, I strongly believe that the Darsheel Safary (who played Ishaan's character) has performed the best acting by any child I have ever seen. The emotions that he delivered throughout the movie, like the one when he was very angry on the roof after fighting with Ranjit, is commendable. ❤️

Actually the problem is if you see the old education system of India... With old I mean the ancient study system... It was so systematic and fun like we have temples with carvings and to teach students... In ancient India there were ashrams... There kids used to teach how to be a man/woman.... They taught them about the Vedas... The different sports... Different war tactics... Those students later becomes the most intelligent person... But today the education system is all about reading and remembering what book says and that's make you a intelligent person.... There is a quote of Sadhguru Idk you guys know them or not but he said.... "There is a dimension of intelligence within us that is beyond thought process and memory. If one finds access to this dimension, life will function with such effervescence and exuberance that it looks magical." So becoming a book worm doesn't make you a better person.... You must become a better person before becoming a intelligent person 🙂

i remember seeing this movie when it came out..... im 21 now... and i was devasted after seeing it...since i realised that i was slightly like Ishan... i learnt to cope up with it though, and just because i had a kinda good enough visual memory, i got good enough grades to pursue aeronautical engineering... i still have confusion with small little things like ldistinguishing left and right, but i still have that imaginative power, where i can imagine entire structures moving and stuff in my head clearly, with which i am able to build my rc models as well as my other paper models and transformers...so, in a way, i am thankful for having this :) i managed to keep it hidden from my parents for 15 years xD

It hasn't even been a century after Britishers left us with so many problems, from increasing poverty to regional issues which are always stopping us from moving ahead... and no, knowledge or education is not about what facts we are reading...Clearly, those who love reading literature wouldn't mind studying about History which relate to them...And manipulating history is an art which every country follows...

I saw this movie when I was in 4th grade, and i was literally afraid of boarding school through this and also because my parents told me they send me to boarding school and hostel. I really cried in bathroom in class 6th when I was in hostel. My parents probably never knew this because I never told them. But it's all good now I've learned many things from that boarding school. 👍
