Playing music over your voice at any volume when you're addressing someone is fucking ridiculous. These millennials (even if they have good information) do it deliberately to cause chaos and alienation (it gives them more views). Any respectful person would have the courtesy to turn the music OFF when they're talking to someone, especially if you are talking for almost 10 minutes and the other person is just listening. This is a professional channel too!!!!!!!!!! These people have No Respect.

I've heard that videos with a good amount of "Down Votes" make more money than if people like it. This is deliberate troll behavior from a professional electronics company. They know exactly what they're doing, playing with peoples emotions to make them angry.

@@thewhitemustang I wouldn't doubt if that were true as videos are monetized based off views, not likes/dislikes. And humans are pretty weird creatures, we like what we don't like. The worse a video is, the more likely people are going to be going to all their friends, sharing on social media, or just rewatching themselves saying "oh man! Look how horrible this is! Everyone everyone! You have to see this terrible video!!!"(that's just an explanation on why disliked videos might pay more, not saying this video is terrible as the only real problem is the music which honestly, not that hard to just ignore it)

I was searching for a "CONFIRMATION" that the elements (wires) inside an electric blanket were, indeed, DC and not AC... (I'm OLD SCHOOL electronics!), but I stopped reading all the comments cuz they were only interested in the MUSIC! Who the hell CARES about the "music loop"!? Get OVER it! I didn't even NOTICE the music cuz my main interest was the CIRCUIT! (btw...I DID notice the switch, too, not being turned on...) BUT...back to the circuitry...all I needed to know was if the wires inside a blanket were ac or dc. My answer came during the visual once the cover was off. AC in, dc OUT! SARAH...any electronics enthusiast can ignore the "music loop"! I was impressed by your "KNOWLEDGE" of electronic components. I learned the resistor color code in high school vo-tech in '79...those resistors are 100 ohm, gold makes it +- 20%, and the SIZE of them makes them (visually) "higher wattage"...I'm not sure what the last gold band represents...it HAS been over 30 years since I was in high school! Lol!

Most the failure of the newer generation heater blankets, especially sunbeam brands, occur at the plug connector, there is a safety circuit which has a few intentional under-rated parts, this is worsen by the fact they send high current pulses during start up which stresses the already under-rated components, and if I remember one of them is a custom made IC which isn't available for sale anywhere. They usually last until right outside of warranty, like most modern designed products, especially car parts.

I can tell you what causes these fuses to blow and the Control to stop working. These blankets have a 10 hour Auto Shut Off built in. But if (at that 10 hour time)you turn the blanket off and turn it right back on before you allow it to cool down it will always blow the fuse. You have to leave the blanket off for hours prior to turning it back on and the fuse won't blow. Great video always nice to see a pretty girl with brains.

After my own heating blanket broke with normal use I scoured reviews and it seems like it's very, very common. It's just the way they are constructed. For example one of the wires inside can break when using the blanket like normal. I would say they are not worth getting as they are quite expensive. They need to be constructed in a very different way for it to be worthwhile. Thanks!

I've had two of these Biddeford electric blankets, and they have both blown the same resistor, and from what I hear about electric blankets, it sounds like the electronics are often very poor quality to begin with. It sure would be nice if someone actually made an electric blanket that didn't burn out, and instead just turned itself off when it detected overcurrent, or shorts.

I see a lot of comments on the music, but what I find annoying is that this wasn’t really a fix. The light doesn’t light up as expected, but the blanket is mysteriously getting hot, and you “think” something may have previously tripped the blanket’s fuse, but didn’t resolve if it’s perhaps the wiring in the blanket. This blanket isn’t repaired. It’s a safety hazard.

And finally 8:06 broken neon bulbs don't short stuff and therefore don't burn fuses, because there is no electrical connection in the neon bulb (also they usually have a relatively large resistance resistor in series which would likely burn before the fuse would).

my controller seems to have a bunch of really bad solder joints. The manufacturer might not even have removed the left over rosin or cleaned the board.

A neon lamp (also neon glow lamp) is a miniature gas discharge lamp. The lamp typically consists of a small glass capsule that contains a mixture of neon and other gases at a low pressure and two electrodes (an anode and a cathode).

Ugg - you’re as bad as she is - showing off information you know for no reason other than pride - most people clicked on this to fix a blanket - not to go to listen to people ramble about what they learned about electronic components - it’s cool you have information on this but save it for videos where someone is looking for that info

Wrong. HINT: A mercury switch in a heating blanket would serve no reasonable purpose thus makes no sense whatseover. Are you really that dumb?

No way would you have 1G ohm resistors at that power rating on only 220v where they couldn't raise a sweat (maximum 0.00005 watts !) - is that a thermal fuse over the top of them ? They probably form part of the capacitor dropper supply for the control electronics. I just repaired a different controller where it was a 100 ohm resistor that failed - albeit much smaller one - marked somewhat optimistically as "5 watts" ... and as others have said, the music is massively distracting - and I consume electronic music on a permanent drip ...

Constructive criticism: for an instructional video the background music's key note shouldn't be static. I'm really interested (freezing cold) to see if I could learn something for diagnosing my electric blanket error but I'll come back lil later. Maybe I'll try a mute/captions combo.
