About to build your table. Can you share how you use the side-mounted t-tracks? Because like you, I REALLY like the blue-to-walnut contrast. Already have all my hardware, vise, t-tracks and walnut
Built this table last month. The plans really helped. The size and configuration was just what I needed.

I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great kzread.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.
That bench is too nice to work on! Thanks for the video, it left me with a long "wish list" of tools and parts.

I tried to think ahead on this one lol.
That t-track install is where a drill clutch (power setting) comes in handy. Just set it to 10 or whatever, and it will not over torque, or strip, or leave heads proud, just perfection every time. Also, if you want to put a finish on the mdf, use a prestain conditioner for stains/poly. Paste wax is good if you just want an easy one step finish it, looks about the same as BLO, but won't soak in as much.
@WalkersWoodworks

This was perfect as a vanity desk for me. kzread.infoUgkxMAlHv7-BBWMrPRm5-uEoD6rtdT7SG2Qr Especially the glossy finish. Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.
Awesome table man, I'm definitely going to have to get a set of your plans. I just built a quickie portable assembly table for a job next week. But this one would be killer in my shop.

Turned out awesome!
I am beginning to see the value in the modern plywood work bench/extension tables rather than laminated 2x material. I like the t-track grid. You did a nice job of explaining the process. I especially like the Rockler floor levelers- I have the same problem. I prefer a more open bench underneath with big old style legs sans the cabinet shelving. You’ve given me the best ideas for a re-do of my own bench/extension table. Thx. I’ve looked a lot of these in the last couple months.

Hi, im thinking of doing the same grid of t track in my outfeed table but its my first one and i'm hesitant because ive heard stock can get caught on the track as it get passed the table saw blade. After years of using yours can you advise if this is a major problem you've had or not?
Side T-Track great idea! Hot Tuna was good too!

Love it. You should show the dust collection system.
nice looking table, love the top with all the T-track
That's an awesome build. That being said I've got a quibble about pocket screws being the cheapest and easiest method of joining everything together. I'll conceed that they're easy. But I've found that good old fashioned glued joints, ie: dadoes, rabbits, mortis and tenon, and dovetails are way cheaper. Takes a bit longer and a little more skill, but I've really enjoyed lowering my fastener expenses doing this.
@WalkersWoodworks
5 жыл бұрын
I agree. But like you said it takes longer and time is money! Haha. It's all personal preference I guess. I buy the screws in big packs so it's much cheaper.

do you wish to manufacture my saw? I invented a "Parallel Guided Power Saw" which can be seen on you tube and can carry any saw on the market and can cut lumber and boards. 4 ft is for jobs away from home. 8 ft is a little heavier and 18 ft is just for shop. to transport you can disassembly into pieces. It has 3 parts: Saw unit, Guide unit, and table, I invented it in 2012 and all the USA companies and Bosch company declined to license from me my say. Bosch wrote that my saw is not good for the market. By contrary is the best because everybody would like to buy my saw, but those companies shall retire almost all of their tools such as sliding saw, table saw, drill press, router table. Bosch did a wonderful design for their sliding saw but kept an old feature of 12 inch cut length. How can they not to see that the length of cut is the most important. The precision of my saw is great and moves very easily on the guide and carry also the heavy dust collector. I need somebody to manufacture with me my saw.
That is the most BEAUTIFUL work table I’ve ever seen. Love the walnut trim!! New subscriber. 😁

What an awesome build! I'm searching for workbenches to get some different ideas on what to add to my design and that's how I found you and I'm glad I did. I subscribe to Twisted Knot's channel and I am subscribing to yours. I don't own anything from Festool, but I have been drooling over their domino tool too,lol. I just added a "Closet" or shed onto the back of my shop this past fall. I searched Facebook Marketplace for lumber and found someone who was selling 200 boards that are 1"x 4" x 8' white cedar boards for only $20.00! they were used on a shed that was built 3 years ago, so they had turned grey already and it looks really nice. So I used that wood to clad the closet and made shelves with the rest inside the shop. I then made a heavy duty door out it. The frame for the closet I made out of pressure treated 4"x4" and pressure treated 2"x4". I used an old slightly rusted corrugated roofing panel that I had gotten for free from my uncles property. I bought a "Through the wall dust collection adapter" I bought from Rockler to get the hose inside the shop. And I used a piece of 2" PVC pipe to run the power cord through the wall as well. I also installed on each side wall a computer fan to keep air circulating in the summer. I had purchased a small 40 watt solar panel that I put on the roof of the shop and that powers the 2 fans and a low wattage led light bulb. I anticipated building this when I built the shop and when it was being wired I had an outlet put in on the back wall where I knew I would be building the closet. Other than the adapter I got from Rockler which I got for 30% off making it $28 off the reg. price of $40 on one of their specials, the $20 for the used cedar and $60 for the pressure treated lumber, I had everything else. $148.00 is not back for a4'x6'x6' shed. I have a surround of 6"x6" timber around the shop where I had to build up a level spot for it, so I used that to sit the floor frame on and attached the back wall of the closet to the shop. So I did used one bag of gravel and then placed a 2- 12x12" cement blocks onto the gravel for the front 2 supports. I just wanted to share that with you since you mentioned you would be doing the same thing. Everyone is different in taste and wealth So I saved a bunch of money by getting some of the lumber cheaply. Best of luck and I look forward to your videos.

Build one man! It's so much nicer to have something that is efficient.
With this design as well he could then attache an MFT to on to it so as to act as a sacrificial cutting surface for the track saw. And then when he needs to just store the top in some corner of the shop. T track work station like the one in that video looks great. And all that extra weight will mean it is more stable and not likely to move when working on it.
Excellent job, very well spoken and explained. Keep it up.

I am in the Market to build a shop table and desk for my office and I was impressed with how well the Plywood and MDF looked as a finished product, I am about to watch your "How to Build and Finish a Desktop Video yet". I have built things as I have needed them over the last 20 years and was given the buy by my father in law "The Tin Man" so I think I am sold and look forward to many hours in the garage when I clean it our.
