    Triceratops was built to fight rather than run and was armed with some of the greatest defenses ever know on a dinosaur. The robust rhino-like legs allowed for great center of gravity and better fixed into battle position of would be near impossible to knock down. The short front legs allowed for better, swifter turns and positioning of its head. Triceratops also had a very flexible ball-shaped skull connection to its neck that meant it was always able to face its massive sharp horns and frill at the direction of any predator very quickly. Triceratops horns were massive and made from bone and thick keratin; very capable of killing any large predator. Unlike some ceratopsians, the frill of triceratops was immensely compacted with extremely durable bone and thick keratin over it; shield the neck very well. In addition, it also had an immense body with similar mass to tyrannosaurus. *Side note:* Some paleontologists are even now hypothesizing that most of triceratops body (or at least its back and tail) was actually covered with thick sharp quills due to some skin impressions with supposed quill-marks. It is however only evident on the backs and tails on ceratopsians, but they may have been very useful additional defense; especially against smaller or weaker jawed predators. To combat this, tyrannosaurus evolved the strongest jaws ever to walk the earth with massive 8-12in bone-smashing teeth. Tyrannosaurus also had a relatively large birdlike brain to better react and plan better. In addition, tyrannosaurus had excellent binocular vision and perception of depth; allows very precise attacks and to immediately see enemy vulnerabilities. It also excellent center of gravity due to its hip and leg design with tail structure. Tyrannosaurus also had a highly notable, very thick, robust and durable body; traits of a very brutish, resilient and fight based animal. *Side note:* Some paleontologists speculate that tyrannosaurus may have also had its own form of a septic bite. This theory is based on the jagged, cup-like serrations on tyrannosaurus teeth. Every time a t-rex teeth sank in or ripped out of a victim's body, small pools of blood may have been preserved in the serrations. Keep in mind that a lot of its teeth were too big to stay in its mouth and would men the blood would stay and even age outside of the mouth; very different than the septic saliva theories for komodo dragons. Thus, the next time a t-rex bite a prey, the prey item runs the risk of having deadly infections, depending on how much aged blood was in the serrations of the t-rex's teeth. Imagine several jagged infectious spikes sinking deep into your flesh. Infection would practically be inevitable. However, as I explained, it is not perfect, but likely effective. *TL;DR:* Basically, triceratops and tyrannosaurus have coevolved specifically to take down each other, if need be (which t-rex would have been almost always instigating).

    Juggernaut K. Captain too much info, not that important. In simple words: Trex bites hard and causes as much infection as a dirty stick, triceratops moves its horns around. Actually, komodo dragon s lethal bite isnt all due to infection. It does have venom glands.

  • @juggernautk.captain5845

    @juggernautk.captain5845

    9 жыл бұрын

    Ninja Saltman The infectious bite of t-rex (by pools of blood aging in its teeth serrations outside its mouth) is actually different than that theorized for komodo dragons (infectious, gloppy saliva). Also, the extra info is quite necessary, otherwise it would be too simplified to the point of having no real intellectual view. It really wasn't_just_ jaws vs horns; more factors generally left ignored.

    Juggernaut K. Captain People can visualize easily what you describe. So no need for too much description. Intellectual value? fancy way of saying let people know. When a baseball player throws a ball, you think he knows all the details about what he s doing? He only knows the technique, his ram has practiced, and all people know is it goes too fast. People can acknowledge and relate the speed of a baseball without knowing all the precised details. Same happens here.

    Yeah, to intimidate the highly dangerous t-rex. After all, *it would take much less energy to slam its tail down, especially when it was likely the sheer weight of the clubbed tail dropping down that caused most of the effect*. More times than not, it would have likely worked due to the supposed major threat implied.

  • @evenflow1981

    @evenflow1981

    Either way it proves to be wasted energy. This video is dramatised but is pretty badly done. I seriously doubt a starving Ankylosarus would bother with postering when it knows it's got limited energy supplies and is in a life and death situation.

  • @juggernautk.captain5845

    @juggernautk.captain5845

    9 жыл бұрын

    evenflow1981 No, it wasn't. The ankylosaurus was likely incapable to run due to its build alone. Of course it would seem intimidated by the sight of a hungry t-rex. Slamming its tail was really its last resort attempt to prevent conflict. If anything, it cost very little energy due to it really being the weight of the tail and heavy club coming down that caused the majority of the effect.

  • @evenflow1981

But because of the lack of available food for the T-Rex, that turned out to be the wrong thing to do, because the T-Rex's survival instincts were refusing to let him turn tail and run.

    The reason T. rex could overpower both was because plant life was almost wiped out. The two herbivores were starving, on the brink of death. 40 days after impact though, T. rex could still scavenge off of dead bodies and kill other carnivores for meat if need be. It would still be very hungry, but not quite on the brink of death like the two herbivores are.

    Most likely a Triceratops. Although Ankylosaurus was built very well for defense, that was about all it was built for, if it were a head on fight, Anky wouldn't be able to do a thing since it's only weapon is behind it. Meanwhile Trike could likely be able to ram into Anky and topple it over where it could pierce it's soft underbelly and likely kill it there. Although these two likely wouldn't have actually fought, that's the most likely outcome.

    The Triceratops clearly had time to turn its head toward the T.Rex after it the first ambush bite towards its horn, but the creators just had it roar at a rock while the T.Rex leisurely walked around it and delivered the finishing kill. The Ankylosaurus stood no chance due to how it was set up with no food and only defensive weaponry available, although the Rex shouldn't have had the power to just lift it like that.

    I could just watch this over and over and still never get sick of the epicness of how the Tyrannosaurus was able to beat the Triceratops and Ankylosaurus. The only part I didn't like was when it tripped, I mean, come on, the T. rex killed those guys, and now it's just going to go to waste? He earned those two meals, and it wouldn't have been so clumsy, either. But still, I really like how this video turned out.
