I am very impressed, he has an amazing voice. People have certainly judged him wrong for using Autotune.

T-Pain did nothing to generate that type of response, he simply created his own lane and artistry. T-Pain is not the one trying to box in the definition of good music. That's you and everyone else that shares your view on not only autotune, but any means of creating music that you don't like or consider to be talentless. tl;dr your ignorance is the problem. Not how much or how little T-Pain uses autotune.

m. kall he uses it as an instrument, not as pitch correction-his music would never have gotten anywhere if it didn't have the distinctive sound he gave it by revolutionizing the use of autotune. Besides Cher he was the first person to figure out how to use autotune like that and now everybody's doing it. He's a legend

So funny how it surprises that THE autotune man can actually sing. T-Pain uses Autotune for the effect guys, not because he can't sing... Seriously there's enough live footage of him that proves that he can sing without any autotune, just a li'l reverb and he's ready to go.

I grow up listening to 90' RnB and Teddy Riley, bkackstreet used auto tune too, not because they can't sing, because it's a style, and the first to use it was stevie wonder. It wasn't the same technology but stevie wonder wanted to sound like a robot voice to make the song funkiest. T-Pain is a classic artist, he used old tricks. He learnt to sing with De Vante and Jodeci. He is a old school guy. And he CAN sing, this live is perfect. It makes me want to see him live. Ne Yo can sing too. But T-Pain got this groove , this swing , this soul on his voice ( you can hear it on this live) that Ne Yo hasn't got in his voice.

That was, the vocals are much more refined than this.

I always felt that auto-tune held him back..sounds way better without that ish. That performance was perfect...UNTIL...3:57...that fruity jump he did killed everything LMAO.

I have used autotune before. If you cannot sing, you still cannot sing with autotune. It's just a stylistic choice. The Weeknd has used it too. He just has the pipes of God, so no one calls him on it. lol.
