I got this phone when I was 10 years old. I still have this phone today, the display on the top doesn't work anymore but the phone is still completely functional and I've had it for 10 years now.

This phone just took us on a trip to the past.

Ok, I'm going to say this because no one else will, SOME PEOPLE WANT A BASIC PHONE THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE A DATA PLAN. So don't complain about how YOU think it's a piece of shit. To some people this might be all they can get.

Dude. Opera Mini browser and 3G is useful for browsing. Have you heard of bookmarks. You bookmark the sites you love, then you don't have to type them in everytime you browse. Genius.

For that price you can get a windows phone for like 59 dollars ...i know not most people like windows phone but yeah im sure its a better experience than a flip phone for someone on a budget

Good bar/club phone for when you don't want to bring your smart phone some where it can be lost, stolen, or broken.

For $20 more from the same company (alcatel) you get a smartphone running android 4.1, 840x480 display, 5 megapixel camera with auto focus, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, 640x480 front facing camera, 1GHz single core CPU, nearly double the battery capacity and nearly triple the talk time, wifi 802.11n, micro SD card slot. While not as good at the moto g, it shows how bad either alcatel or t-mobile is at pricing. While poor for a smartphone by 2013 standards, it is far better than that flip phone.

Razor2048 I'll stick with the MOTO G! 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.5 inches (~326 ppi pixel density) 8/16 GB, 1 GB RAM 5 MP, 2592 х 1944 pixels, autofocus, LED flash Gorilla Glass 3 Android OS, v4.3 (Jelly Bean), upgradable to v4.4.3 (KitKat) a much better deal.

mrIpodmagic yep, alcatel cannot compare with the value of the moto g. I was mainly posting an example that alcatel is offering a far better for a tiny bit more money within their own product like. this means that either t-mobile is doing an insane markup, or alcated is ripping people off and t-mobile was dumb enough to fall for it

Sometimes I want to trade in my iphone 5S for a basic phone like this. Makes me miss the old days when everything was simple and straight.

Those were the best phones to text on..I learned how to text without looking on flip phones

@Nate Ralph, some of us are still looking for simple phones for elderly parents who just need a basic phone. Anyone can tell by just looking at this phone that it's not good for texting or taking pictures. Duh. This is like reviewing a two seat sports car and spending the entire time complaining about its lack of room for passengers and luggage. Here's all of the questions I still have after watching your very lightweight "review": (1) How long does the battery last? (2) How well or poorly designed is the keyboard? (3) How clear or confusing is the display / menus? (4) Is there a speaker phone? (5) Does it have bluetooth? Seems like you could have filled two minutes with useful answers to these questions, rather than just stating the obvious.

Whenever I see anyone in public still using a flip phone, I imagine them being a serious criminal who needs a disposable phone for shady deals...

not texting on a t9? I am a high user of phones for years and I could always text fast with the t9 than any smartphone. Hell, I don't even need to look a the phones to text via t9
