This is the saddest OST in the show imo. The fact that they finally got to the ocean, and all Eren can think about is how pointless everything truly was.

This the moment Eren broke. Not when he saw the memories, or when learned the truth. It was when he finally saw the thing he fought for his entire life become a lie. He had hope, even after finding out the truth. But it all was lost the second he saw the ocean.

Eren was depressed watching the ocean because it confirmed that his father's memories are real. There would be a small part of him who was hoping that it's not real. But he also says "It's exactly as I saw in my dad's memories" in the anime.
Eren was one of the most well written characters out there. You can never really hate him no matter what. Rather you would feel pity/bad for him and the situation he is in. This scene always breaks my heart. It's crazy how everyone was amazed by how beautiful the ocean was but for Eren he was already suffering alone and he sees nothing but what lies ahead for their future. Attack on titan will always be #1 for me. 👏🏻
When you actually know the context of this scene it feels so melancholic. A beautiful sea, but also a sad confirmation about the future, poor Eren...
There will never be another masterpiece like AOT.

The Ocean scene is actually what mikasa quotes "we live in a beautiful yet cruel world". I love the contrast of the gang seeing the beautiful ocean while Eren realizing that another death/war/conflict are inevitable. countless innocent live are gonna be loss in the name of "Freedom" and "Love". Both side fight for their loved one and only by defeating the other that they can protect what they love. It really does mirror of our current world huh? we fight to protect, we kill to save. both eren and reiner understand both side are not the "Devil" as they used to believe, but circumstances doesnt allow them to just stop because they need to "keep moving forward" to protect what they believe/loved ones. If religion thought me one thing, is that the current world we lived in are both Heaven and Hell at the same time.. We enjoy freedom with laughter and smile with our loved one while on the otherside of the world is dealing Genocide, Destruction, Oppression. A beautiful yet cruel world indeed.

I remember when I first watched this, and how utterly devastated I was after it was over. In the beginning, the conflict was a rather simple one, it was humanity against the Titan's. This simplistic outlook on things was what drove Eren to fight, because in his mind, defeating the Titan's would be enough to win back humanity's freedom and in a more idealistic situation, that's where things would have ended. However things weren't as simple as it was made out to be, cause after Eren's Titan powers were revealed it became clear that there was something more to the Titan's than we thought. Then it was revealed that his own friends were the one's who destroyed the walls, then it was revealed that all the mindless Titan's were actually human beings trapped against their will. Finally, upon reaching the basement, the truth about everything was revealed through the notes of Grisha Yeager. Before this revelation, the outside world was a mystery to everyone in the walls, and one of Eren's goals was to see that world. But it wasn't like the world depicted in Armin's book, no, what was actually out there was a world much much worse than anyone could've imagined. It was a world controlled by the same people who sent the Titan's to slaughter them, a world where they were thought of as monsters that needed to be wiped out, and a world in which children were fed alive to dogs. That brings us to the beach, while everyone was in awe at the vast ocean and its beauty, Eren was not. Instead, he was starting off into the horizon because he knew what was coming, that all of this fighting and sacrifice was for nothing. Beyond the walls is the ocean, and beyond the ocean is freedom, that's what Eren believed, but he was wrong. Because just on the other side, lies their true enemy, and with this Eren asks: "If we kill all our enemies on the other side, will we finally be free?" At that moment, the truth finally set in for me, the Titan's were just a prelude to what was really out there and now the real war was about to begin. The ocean wasn't freedom, it was instead just another wall. As season 3 came to a close and the end credits began to play, I was overwhelmed by this devastating truth and then when 1:39 played, I just absolutely lost it and I began crying. Never before has a story like this ever made me cry like this, and I was dreading what was to come in season four.

From the moment he got back to the basement until the end of the story, "T-KT" becomes the theme of Eren Jaeger. It perfectly embodies the character and what goes through his mind: the delusion and disappointment he felt when he discovered the truth about humanity living in the outside world, that his enemies were not human-eating monsters but actual humans, that the world was not like the book of Armin's grandpa described, that the freedom he imagined it existed over the walls was a lie. This song MUST be played in the adaptation of chapter 131. There is no other way to deliver all of this in THAT scene!
I especially love the very start of this song. The strings crescendos then decrescendos. Slowly appears to its loudest then eventually fades away. Like the waves of the ocean, finally reached the beach but are destined to fade away due to gravity. It ceaselessly tries to reach its end goal; although succeeds for a split second, but can never stay forever. It's almost like Eren's pursuit of freedom. He constantly chases after it and fights for it. But every time he approaches it, there's always something that is dragging him away from it, something that infringes his right to freedom. Therefore Eren has to continue fighting, sacrificing things he treasures and undergoes pain. But after all, he has the right to be free because he is "born into this world" and he will not stop moving forward until he is free

I don't know everyone is just talking about the show, but nobody's talking about this music. The show is amazing, but this is legitimately one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

Man just think if in final scene where the bird wrap scarf around mikasa this ost was used then that moment would have been even more emotional than it already was
This hits harder thinking in Eren as an unhappy person in the end

One of the greatest OST ever
この曲のイントロとAメロ、今まで聴いてきた悲しい曲の中でも圧倒的に絶望を感じる 本当に「世界は残酷」を感じる
For real, the best chain of events that ever happened in any story that was ever written was in S3P2 of AOT
4:29 “I’m sure Eren will be able to reach the ocean”
You can bet Eren was hoping, and wishing it wasn't going to go down this way. But when he got to the shoreline he Knew what he would have to do. After the whole struggle, the real fight has just begun.

The Final Season has been great so far, and the episodes for Part of the Final Season, but Season 3 Part 2 still takes THE CAKE. The music, the plot, the animation, the direction, buildup from everything from the past season, the reveal, everything! I’m hoping that the Final Season Part 2 exceeds Season 3 Part 2, but I have a feeling that it won’t 😅

Season 3 was the best, amazingly adapted by Wit Studio. It was so special
i wonder how erwin would have reacted to seeing the ocean and learning the truth of the world
Even most depressing anime have happy beach episodes. But this scene of beach said everybody is going to shed tears of blood.
to the boy who sought freedom, goodbye
At 1:39, goosebumps flooded my entire body🥶
Reaching the very thing that pushed him forward all this time... only to realize the pain that is to come.
This has got to be the most underrated ost ever. It’s a forgotten masterpiece…

The Boy Who Sought Freedom
This is what we called Ignorance is a Blessing 😊
Who would've thought that attack on titan was all about humanity going on a verge of exinction. We got to know every character, their past, their personality, it felt like we are part of their world as well througout their dark times and accept their way of living. Up until that moment to the beach scene. Eren's world view started to change and we had no idea that there are humans existing on the other side of the ocean. I thought all of humanity from the outside beyond paradis island are already gone because of titans but now we know that people like Marley sent those titans towards paradis because of their belief that the people of paradis are devils. It was that moment Eren realized that the humans on the other side of the ocean is the real enemy other than the titans and the story we all know, cry, and love for from season 1 to season 3... Is finally over.
Everybody talks about 1:39, but for me the beggining is everything

This is why I think the ending is so brilliant. It's a powerful message. That no matter how hard we struggle, how extreme the action we take, not everyone can get what they want, and we need to make the most of our situations in life.
the slight almost flat line sound before the big part is great
