Word. I wanna go back so bad. Outkast. Killer Mike. T.I. Swishahouse Records. 50 Cent. Prime Cornrow Ludacris. Dem Franchise Boys. Bow Wow's best ghostwritten material. The Pinnacle of Quality Exotic Dancing Theme Music (Ying-Yang Twins, Early Pitbull, Mike Jones, etc.), dope ass PS2 video games of all types. Me myself, I was into WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain up until WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2006. To be an adolescent again. Early-2000's were more lit than I gave it credit back then, in hindsight. *Sighs* Gonna go play some of those old games now and vibe out to some of that music, mayne. I'm nostalgic as fuck now. Kendrick Lamar, Run The Jewels, Vince Staples, Pusha T, Chance The Rapper, Death Grips, Tyler the Creator, Danny Brown. There are still lots of interesting Hip Hop out there. Guaranteed that when this was released (03/04) that folks were wishing they were back listening to Hip Hop from 97/98. And in 10 years the same kind of comment will be said wanting to go back to music of now. Just an eternal cycle
I always call the early 2000s the second coming of the 90's. Hip Hop in general was still shining in the early 2000s. Man, 2003 had some classic albums man. Get Rich or Die Tryin, Trap Muzik, Beg For Mercy, The Black Album, Speakerboxx/The Love Below, Chicken N Beer, Grand Champ, Cheers etc. So many great Hip Hop albums were released that year.

@diaz297 that's nonsense. There's tons of good music now. From a statistical perspective, there's inarguably more good music than EVER BEFORE in human history.... there's just also more bad music than ever before in human history. What I'm saying is that there's just... a crap ton of music, and that skews our perception. Yes, technology lowering the barrier to entry to the music industry _has_ caused the proliferation of poorly made, poorly produced, low effort songs. However, it has also enabled countless artists to find a following online that would have *_never_* been able to do so in the traditional music industry landscape. Furthermore, our perception is skewed more by the reality that we've forgotten about the numerous crappy songs of the past. They've all been lost to time, giving the *illusion* that music in the past was better. It wasn't, we just threw out all the garbage and kept the good stuff. It's like going in an antique shop and assuming that everything was high quality in the past, despite that not _reaaaalllly_ being the case at all. That said, I do think it's quite difficult to actually FIND the good music out there... we haven't really come up with a great way to do that yet. It's absolutely there though. TL;DR - intellectually lazy people will _always_ say that music in the past was better, and "nobody makes good music anymore!". They've been wrong literally 100% of the times they've said that up until 2024. What do you think the odds are that they're wrong again? Pretty dang high, I'd say :) Edit: like seriously, I don't think most people have ANY IDEA how good we have it. A hundred years from now, this time period will undoubtedly be looked back upon as a second "golden age" of music (or something like that). Mainstream music has always been mostly trash, that's not what I'm talking about btw. FWIW, I was born in 1991. I remember thinking that "music these days is so lame" and then patting myself on the back for realizing it, but in reality I was just plainly and totally wrong! I hope you too realize that :) Plus, do you have any idea how gd difficult it was to actually get a hold of music back then? You had to ~gasp~ purchase it with real money! Or you had to wait for it to come on the radio and burn it to cassette tape, although that was outdated by the 2000's. Or you could have your friend burn you a CD, then slowly rip the tracks back into your computer. It was a real hassle! There's something to be said for owning music, but that's another topic altogether.
2024 anyone 😂❤
