Painting with broad strokes. Plenty of rappers have content and literary devices in their music and generally speaking more so than any other genre - story telling, metaphors, wordplay, social issues, politics, you name it. No other genres have such a wide variety of topics and writing techniques. I'd venture to say it's rock/pop/country that constantly deal in the same conflated subject matter about love with basic truck/duck rhymes and no similes or poetic devices whatsoever. Extremely banal.
