T.D. Jakes Sermons: Stay on Track Part 1

In this T.D. Jakes sermon from the series, Finishing Strong, he reminds us that it doesn’t matter how we start the race; it matters how we finish it.
Why do we need reminding to “Stay on Track”? Because rarely is anything in the Christian life immediate. Discouragement can creep in when we see others’ progressing while we’re still waiting on God. It can be particularly painful when we see people succeed who seem like they don’t deserve it. It may not seem fair. We can lose patience, make bad decisions or, in the worst of it, feel like life is not worth living.
This is why T.D. Jakes motivates us with some simple, but powerful, spiritual truths. We cannot allow a moment of sorrow or despair to define our whole life. There is a reason behind the waiting. Just like a loving but wise parent knows they cannot give their children everything they want whenever they want it, God understands that growth is essential for our fulfillment. As T.D. Jakes says, “A blessing given too soon is not a blessing at all.”
The Bible speaks about our steps being ordered by God. This implies a process, a journey between what is now and what is to come. Steps bring us to a higher level. It is so important to understand this concept and maintain perspective as we rise to higher ground. T.D. Jakes urges us to remain patient, sober, and vigilant. The blessing is already prepared. God is simply preparing us for the blessing.
Do not lose heart. Trust in the Lord - and finish strong.
