T. Colin Campbell, PhD: Link Between Dairy Protein, Casein, & Cancer

T. Colin Campbell, PhD: Was a recent guest speaker at the McDougall Advanced Study Weekend in Santa Rosa, California. Watch more videos at: www.drmcdougall.com/
For more than forty years, Dr. T. Colin Campbell has been at the forefront of nutrition research. His legacy, the China Project, is the most comprehensive study of health and nutrition ever conducted. Dr. Campbell is a professor Emeritus at Cornell University and is most well-known for co-authoring the bestselling book The China Study with his son, Thomas Campbell, MD. In addition to his long and outstanding career as an author, scientific researcher, and Cornell professor, Dr. Campbell has been featured in several documentary films. He is the founder of the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and the online internationally-recognized Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate.
Dr. Campbell's expertise and scientific interests encompass relationships between diet and diseases, particularly the causation of cancer. He has focused on nutritional status and long term health. Surprisingly, Dr. Campbell started his life on a dairy farm, but is now widely-known for researching links between animal-based protein diets and disease.
Dr. Campbell has conducted original research and has authored over 300 research papers. He has served on many national and international expert committees with mandates to develop food and health policy positions and is the recipient of several awards, both in research and in citizenship.
Since the publication of The China Study in 2005, Dr. Campbell has given more than 600 lectures in the U.S. and abroad. More recently, Campbell published Whole (May 2013), as well as The Low-Carb Fraud (Feb 2014), and the soon to be released 2nd Edition of The China Study. He was featured in the very successful 2011 documentary, "Forks Over Knives" and 2015 documentary "PlantPure Nation."

I thought I would share that I stopped consuming milk and dairy (cheese a little later) when I was about 12 years old. I am 66 years old now and I have no osteopenia/osteoporosis. My own doctor tried to push me into drinking milk daily and was concerned when I told her no. I have had 3 bone scans showing perfectly healthy bones. It is not milk or calcium that builds bones. It is the tug and pull of muscles and ligaments on the bone itself that stimulate the osteoblasts (bone building cells) to build bone. I am physically active and participate in strength training exercises to keep my bones strong. Also, I eat leafy green vegetables regularly. They have Vitamin K2 which is the vitamin that transports calcium from your blood stream into your bones and muscles. Without K2 the calcium - which is a very hard mineral - builds up in the blood stream and collects in the vessels of the heart and body hardening the vessels which contributes to heart disease. You can get a calcium scan to see if you have calcium buildup and deposition in the blood vessels of your body. Physicians are now cautioning women to not take calcium supplements because of this. Be smart: eat lots of greens and beans with natural calcium and Vitamin K2 and let your body handle it. Cows milk belongs for baby cows - not adult human beings. Even adult cows don't drink cow milk!!! Think about it.

I was consultant for years in an academic oncology department, as an immune-clinician I determined diet to prevent cancer growth after treatment and prevention. My peers were kidding me with my nutrition. My mother in law followed my diet after a cancer colon at age 63 she is now 98. Nutrition is a major part to avoid the mutation making cancer to thrive.

The meat industry wants people to buy lots of meat. The dairy industry wants people to buy lots of dairy. The egg industry wants people to buy lots of eggs. The tobacco industry wants people to buy lots of cigarettes. The alcohol industry wants people to buy lots of alcohol. The drug companies want people to buy lots of drugs. The health industry wants people to do lots of surgical procedures. The overwhelming public opinion is that most of these things are good for us. Where does all this leave Mr and Mrs. Doe? What will their children's health be like as they mature? The short answer is that no one cares. We live in a corrupt world run by greed and governments who want people to buy shit and eventually get sick just to get their wallet.

If you follow any advice about diet, eliminate milk and cheese. You can keep small amounts of meat there thats fine, but the worst by far is milk and cheese. When Karelia in Finland reduced/eliminated it their health dramatically improved. Milk is also quite acidic and when consumed in large quantities pushes you to negative calcium balance.. for the body to maintain pH.

From my own research with a very different approach to Dr Colin Campbell, I believe he is perfectly correct in what he states. The link between Modern Dairy and cancers is stronger than that of meat. Splitting meat and dairy in research is reductionist though, the initial research linking animal food to cancers should be done first. So far there is only one single study like that: The China Study. Many thanks Dr Campbell!!! Your study is very special.

Some of the chemicals are left behind in the extracted casein. I know don’t the cost but I believe chemical is the easiest/cheapest. I wonder if he used to cheap stuff to help as many malnourished as possible.

For simplicity reasons, let me put it this way. Stop drinking milk! Puppies need milk from their dog mothers; rats babies need milk from their mother rat; human babies need milk from their human mothers. The milk is needed for babies/baby rats/puppies in order to help with their growth (they were just born, and require hormons (casein) to help with growth). This growth is only needed until a certain age, at which point all new born (puppies, baby rats, human babies) must cease intaking the milk. We, humans, continue to drink milk. Every other animals knows that that's no longer needed, and puppies mother stop milking their puppies, so do the other animals (including cows). Do you need to continue to grow your ears, legs, bones, heart? Are they not enough formed? Guess what? You can't continue to grow your ears (or at least, force it - as your body says enough is enough). Why are we perpetuating with this milk drinking? It is because the milk corporations have pushed this notion of needing milk into our brain through excessive and multi-billion worth of marketing. We can do better! Hear me - Stop drinking milk! All your sicknesses will go away (including cancer, osteoporosis, etc.!
