T-55 AMS

The AMS is a version of the T-55 soviet medium tank, though this specific tank was used at the Szczecin regiment in Poland between 1980 till 1995 when the regiment was closed down. The tank was manufactured 1980, but the manufacturing process of this version as chancelled in 1981. This vehicle was bought by the SMHS military museum in Delary, Sweden, and can now be viewed there. In case you want any more information about this vehicle, just visit the SMHS website page for this vehicle, link below.

Probably not, but it is the BEST tank if EMP impulses are involved. ;) That's the only tank still in use that can operate after nuclear bombs go off.

Dear Author you have partialy wrong information . T -55 Merida were used in 41 Mechanized Reqiment till 1991 when they were replaced by T-72 M 1 . This particular tank must to be their ,,puppet'' (It was standing near the gate but tank was ineoperational , till 1995 when the rerequment was disbaned. The rest is corect, also nice video.

Thankyou, I'm glad you like it. As for the information, I have put it as I have been informed by the owner of the tank and by the people that run the museum where this tank is displayed. I thankyou for your information, but I have reliable sources of the history of this particular vehicle.

+Andreas Magnefjord Well it is posible that We did not understand eachother . Our conceptions of ,,used in '' did not excludes that the owners was aware that this tank was not combat operational after 1991 and used onlyas ,,living '' statue . I also have one question , did they dismantled the orginal partial tracks cover or folded it ? Honestly i never saw any merida without it and i am curius : )

+Silverdragon 47 Oh, I'm sorry, but I don't know of that part of it's history, so there is s chance you might be right. As for the track cover, as far as I know it was like that when they bought it from the regiment, so it might be original.

I have been told this by others, and I know it looks to be an AMS variant. But I've been informed by the owner, who is a good friend of mine, as well as the museum that displays this vehicle that it is an AM variant. Until they says otherwise that's what I'll call it. But thankyou for the view and your comment. :)

One of the visible things is the front armor, as you can see in AM is thicker. In addition, the bottom is also thicker up to the evacuation hatch. The front fenders are cut under; Link to the page with the original Polish T-55AM. www.motodemont.com.pl/pl/oferta_aktualna/poz/413_czolg_t55_am_merida.html

I'm well aware of this, and I'm not saying you're wrong. You may very well be right, but if the museum what displays this specific vehicle and the owner himself doesn't tell me directly that this is in fact not a T-55 AM then I will keep calling it an AM. This is the museums own page about this vehicle with the history of it's service and manufacture: smhs.com.dinstudio.se/gallery_218.html

As I've already said previously, I know it may be an AMS and not an AM. But as I have already said multiple times, unless the museum or the owner tells me otherwise I will not change the name of the video and I will keep calling it an AM. You are not the owner of this specific tank, nor are you a part of the museum where it is displayed, so no matter how many times you keep repeating yourself, I will not change the name of this video.

I do not want to argue. Compare the pictures of both versions T-55AM and T-55AMS (minesweeper versions). AMS has reduced front armor( difrence on the front edge), and special anti mines blades before caterpillars ( hard to find at Google graphics). P.S. sorry for my english. I'm trying to fix the SKO-1 " Merida" (Aim & Fire Control system) and making english manual (with pictutes) for all electronic systems of T-55 AM Merida.

I don't want to start an argument either, sorry if it seemed that way. I know it does look like it could be an AMS, but like I said, I've been told by the owner (which is a friend of mine) and the museum that displays it that it's the T-55AM, so until they tell me otherwise the description will say it's the AM variant. After all, it is their tank.
