I really like Griffin Aerie. It may not seem like much, but with how much life you gain in this deck, it slowly but surely grows your board with chump blockers or little chippers. Also, it’s an enchantment and is cheap (two mana)

White border doesn’t suck. I love those cards. Makes me nostalgic.

Yeah, there's a market for white border cards, I wonder if they are going to come back.

I'm surprised you didn't take this deck in the Island Sanctuary / Solitary Confinement direction. The quantity of draw enchantress is capable of is more than enough to offset the discard and missed draws while providing superior defensive effects.

Awesome! I just ordered my Old Gnawbone and Tiamat from the new set, all I need! I have a good amount of enchantments in there. I love static abilities that just blanket the field and provide advantage!

@Lv5SuperTuba, yeah I love those static abilities too. I am disappointed Old Gnawbone is green and doesn't go in my Breya deck. I wish I opened Tiamat, but I think I'm going to have to order one for my deck.

@@vex_mtg yeah in 2 prerelease events I didn't see a single person open one. It got to be Hella short printed.

Great deck tech and I appreciate your knowledge of the cards and archetype! Most other deck techs say that Argothian Enchantress or Enchantress's Presence are the original and it drives me a little crazy. If you are in to needlessly expensive foils you can get Verduran Enchantress in black bordered foil from 8th or 9th Edition. One thing I feel you are missing especially without Serra's Sanctum is Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. It can frequently produce as much mana and sometimes more than Serra's Sanctum. Thanks for the upload!

by the way, Verduran Enchantress was printed white border in 9th edition. But foils from 9th edition are black border. So it does have a black border print :)

@Richard Bennett, technically yes, but I was mainly talking about non-foil. But technically it also had a black border non-foil reprint in 9th Edition on Russian. I'm just hoping for a regular bordered/regular art/non-secret lair/non-foil re-print one day!

Chrome mox and gemstones caverns are really good for turn 1 Sythis, plus you draw so many cards off your commander pitching a card isn't that big of a deal. Also academy rector and whip silk (a green version of flickering ward) are all stars in the deck

@Ant Fayden, indeed the mana acceleration would be really good to get Sythis out early. I tend to exclude those cards because a turn 1 commander turns into a 3v1 game. Academy Rector would be sweet in the deck, however it is on the reserved list and I don't include those cards in my deck techs. Whip Silk is a pretty sweet card, I don't actually own that. I'll have to get one of those.

have you considered adding armadilo cloak or somewhat other type that would synergice with the enchantment engine and gaining life

My deck is very similar but no artifacts for me. I run Burgeoning & Exploration instead of so ring & smothering tithe. I find 1 mana enchantments are just to good. Oh also whip silk.

I think it would be better to run a Mirari's Wake instead of Smothering Tithe because of Collector Ouphe plus atm depending on what printing you get it’s 1/4 the price.

@The Texas German, in retrospect, I completely agree with you Mirari's Wake is much better in this deck. I actually had both in the deck list but decided to cut Mirari's Wake. I guess I'm so used to always including Smothering Tithe -- it's so busted.

Why no carpet of flowers?

38 Lands? With the amount of Card draw this deck has and the lack of effects that let you play additional lands, do you think you could maybe cut the lands down abit? Say 33-34? Or am I missing something?

Too greedy. Never play less than 35 lands.

2:20 "they have yet to print a black border version since alpha/beta" not technically true, some foreign 4th edition versions have black borders (Japanese for example).

@Karmotrene Yellow Submarine, technically correct, they also printed a Russian 9th edition black border too, I'm waiting on the English black border.

@@vex_mtg fair enough. I live in Japan and while I strive to get English cards, sometimes the price difference is so big I just settle for Japanese. For instance, I got a Japanese Serra's Sanctum for $35 While MTG is popular here, its popularity is mostly on a competitive level. So competitive format staples might be up priced, but "casual" format (EDH, Pauper) staples that aren't used elsewhere can be absolutely dirt cheap. Anyway, I appreciate the deck tech. I built Karametra a while back and recently modified it to be Sythis, so it's interesting to see the different ways people have taken the deck. Surprisingly varied!
