some of these are his voice aging and him taking a path of less resistance. there are artists that only scream on the record and dont do it live or only do it live when they feel right about it. I think if serj was ACTUALLLY a screamer we would see more of it. Theres also a lot of him ad libbing and experimenting. very few of these are actual fails.

Ouch! You can hear at 2:34 that the growls are harder to produce and his vocal chords are literally straining to try to produce them... Even though it's sad he's losing some of his musical ability, he still finds a way to attempt it and it always sounds great!

2:50 hurts, we want that voice back.
